    Paint out Feb 27 &28, with canvas sales March 1, 2026 Noon till 5pm
  • The skinny: Event will take place during Springfest with an Art & craft Show Feb 28 & March 1 and a plein air painting competition Feb 27 & 28 on island with silent auction March 1 under pavilion during Taste of the Island from Noon until 5pm.  Artist entry fee is $29.  Limited to first 50 artists with applications submitted.  

    Best of the Island - $100 prize, People's Choice $50, Award of Merit $50.  You may only win one award.

    Limited to 1st Fifty artists registered.

    • Each artist may submit up to 3 canvases for judging and sale.  
    • Canvases must be stamped with official event stamp between 9 to 11:30 am February 27 under the pavilion at City Field by 59th Street.  
    • All painting to be done Feb 27 & Feb 28 (Friday & Saturday)
    • all works returned between 3-5pm Saturday Feb 28.
    • Framed sizes of paintings may not exceed 36" length or width.
    • Max frame width is 5" with maximum mat size 5"
    • Check in stamp must be visible on the back of each painting
    • Painting must be signed by the artist.  
    • Painting must be mounted and secured for hanging.  No saw tooth hangers.  Unframed gallery wrapped art must be a least 1" in depth and the edges must be painted.  Work on paper must be framed and under glass/plexiglass.

    We reserve the right to refuse any improperly framed paintings, wrapped canvases, stained mats or alligator hinges.

    The Rules: 

    • Painting materials (up to 3) must be stamped prior to starting.  for drk colored materials, please paint a white atch for stamping.
    • Each painting must be created within the designated areas in the spirit of plein air painting.
    • If paying $29 artist entry (see below)  runs Marina Drive from 58 to 61 Street and back to Flotilla.  This is downtown Holmes Beach.  If you are a business sponsored artist ($100), you may paint on that business location.  
    • Media may include oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels or gouache.
    • You must provde all your own materials.  
    • Artwork must be turned in betwee 3-5pm Saturday Feb 28 under the pavilion at City Field.  Artwork will go on sale under pavilion at noon March 1 during the Art & Craft Show and Taste of the Island.  Artist must provide an easel for display during sale.  Artist will retain 75% of final sale with 25% commission going to Blue Ribbon events.  All final sale checks will be mailed to the artist by March 15, 2026.
    • artist must fill out a federal w-9 form prior to even or t the registration.

    All unsold artwork must be picked up by 6pm March 1.  

    Liability:  regardless of the cause, the artist agrees to ber all risks and expenses for any loss, theft or damage to their artwork or other personal property or injury to the person.  The artist agrees to be rrsponsible for insuring their work, all shipping and abide by all rules.

    Springfest Timeline: Art Show Feb 28 & March 1 from 10 am to 5pm at City Field

    Plein Air competion - various location on island Feb 27 & 28, auction March 1 from Noon until 5pm.

    Taste of the Island - March 1 Noon till 5pm with awards at 5:30pm
