Our Mission

Friends of Ninos Adelante's mission provides high achievement students from poor families in Zihuatanenejo, Mexico, the opportunity to complete their education through a scholarship (beca) program.

Who We Are and What We Do

Friends of Ninos Adelante is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization organized for the sole purpose of providing financial support to Ninos Adelante, a Mexican chartered non-porfit organization founded by a group of Americans in Zihuatanenejo in 1978. Ninos Adelante, working with Zihuatanejo area teachers and school administrators, qualifies students for scholarships (becas) based on need and academic performance.

Sponsoring a Student

Sponsorship of a student involves a commitment to make an annual scholoarship or beca contribution (currently US $450 for middle school and high school students and $675 for college students) to assist families who would otherwise be unable to support their child's continueing education. This commitment includes sponsorship through 12th grade graduation of the assigned student which can be as long as six years. There is also an optional commitment to continue support for college studies for those students who seek to advance their education beyond high school. Sponsors are encouraged to maintain periodic contact with their sutdent via email or snail mail.
