  • Overview

    Community Cruisers is seeking a Communications Coordinator to help share the story and impact of our work across the Bow Valley. This is a part-time, flexible role ideal for someone who is passionate about active transportation, community-building, and digital storytelling.

    The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for executing Community Cruisers’ communications strategy and ensuring consistent, engaging messaging across all platforms. This position pays $25/hour for an average of 5-10 hours per week, depending on the season and event schedule.

    About Community Cruisers 

    At Community Cruisers, we fix and sell bikes, set folks up to ride all winter long, and take care of your bike when it’s parked at events. We provide opportunities for people of all abilities to get moving by bike, we celebrate bikes, teach you how to fix your own bike, work with local government to make it easier to bike and are happy to talk about biking joyfully with everyone.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    As Communications Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in telling the story of our work and encouraging more people to get involved. Responsibilities include:

    1. Content Creation and Management
      • Write, edit, and distribute newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and social media content.
      • Develop compelling stories that highlight the impact of our programs.
      • Design graphics, videos, and other multimedia content.
    2. Social Media Management
      • Execute our social media strategy to boost engagement and visibility.
      • Monitor platforms and respond to inquiries or comments.
      • Post regular updates across platforms and track engagement.
      • Analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
    3. Website Maintenance
      • Keep website content up to date with current programs, news, and events.
    4. Event Promotion
      • Promote events such as bike valet, workshops, and fundraisers.
      • Create flyers, brochures, and banners.
      • Assist with post-event communications and success stories.
      • Track metrics like attendance and feedback.
    5. Email Campaigns
      • Create and manage engaging email campaigns for donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.
      • Segment lists and tailor messaging.
      • Track campaign performance and optimize for future outreach.
    6. Collaboration and Networking
      • Work with program staff, board members, and volunteers to source stories and share initiatives.
      • Connect with partner organizations to explore collaborations.
    7. Reporting and Analytics
      • Track and report on communications metrics across all platforms.
      • Evaluate campaigns using KPIs and offer insights for continuous improvement.
      • Stay informed on communications and marketing trends.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Experience managing social media and email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite).
    • Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe Express).
    • Familiarity with WordPress.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible environment.
    • Interest in sustainability, cycling, or community-based initiatives is a strong asset.
