  • Thank you for considering how God would have you serve on the staff/leadership team for CYIA with Child Evangelism Fellowship-MN. On this team, you will build into the lives of teens in many ways that will ripple out to impact the lives of all the children they will touch through the summer!

     

     

    -After submission, a CEF worker will contact you for next steps for the position(s) you applied.

    The application may take a little time to complete and is not set up for you to save and return this year - therefore think of this list and plan to fill everything out at once.

  • To be a team leader or CYIA staff, you must be at least 18 years old and graduated from high school.

  • For the health and safety of all, we request staff with a communicable disease NOT be sent to training.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in the matter of public health.

  • All medication must be kept in the original, labeled containers and turned in to the CYIA nurse upon arrival.  Do NOT bring any over-the-counter that you do not take regularly as those are available at CYIA.
     
    If you list any prescribed/regularly used medication, the CYIA nurse will send you a form to complete and bring with you prior to training.

  • The screening form is to be completed by applicants for any position, paid or volunteer, involving CEF ministries and will be used to help CEF provide a safe and secure environment for children.  This is not an employment application.  Anyone interested in employment by CEF will also need to complete an employment application form.

  • All information acquired will be used within the Child Evangelism Fellowship organization as it pertains to employment or volunteer work with children unless signified otherwise in writing upon completion of this form.

  • Team Leader Position Description
  • Called by God to be a godly example, loving coach, and mentor to the summer missionaries
    Have and share a genuine love for the memorization/ presentation of the Word of God
    Be a person of prayer, often praying specifically for the summer missionaries
    Enjoy being with teens 24/7 during two tightly-scheduled and productive weeks
    Serve the Lord and others with a servant’s heart in a variety of ways
    Be able to be potentially outside and/or without air conditioning for several hours a day
    Responsibly enforce training rules
     
    Be prepared prior to CYIA training by participating in conference calls, emails and the staff orientation
    Attend staff meetings each morning during CYIA, where daily guidelines are reviewed
    Communicate with other team leaders and the educational director regarding student observations, struggles, weaknesses, etc.
    Share ideas that would be helpful in future years
     
    Guide a team (4-6) of summer missionaries to prepare, organize and teach 5-Day Clubs effectively by engaging with them during all classes, breakouts and meals
    Safely drive your team to a 5-Day Club the second week to gain experience in a real-life club environment
    Guide the team of summer missionaries to pace themselves to complete their assignments in a timely manner and practice organizational skills to track accomplishments
    Listen, encourage, advise and evaluate summer missionaries when they present lessons/club segments before teaching in a club to ensure truth, accuracy and glorification of God in all things
    Be creative, enthusiastic, and loving in your approach with the summer missionaries as they demonstrate various attitudes, capabilities, and presentation of skill levels in their teaching
    Encourage the summer missionaries, especially the second week, to be child focused as they follow the Holy Spirit’s direction and leading
  • Counselor Position Description
  • - Be responsible for and stay in an assigned dorm with a group of summer missionaries each night (note:  often a co-counselor is assigned to each dorm)

    - Build relationships with and pray for the summer missionaries in his/her dorm

    - Promptly be in the dorm each night to facilitate a thirty-minute, spiritually-centered discussion or devotion (note:  unnecessary to prepare a “message,” there is an evening chapel speaker every night)

    - Strictly enforce all training rules, including:
           Dorms kept clean and tidy
           Summer missionaries in/out of their dorms at designated times
           Lights and mouths are turned off on time for “lights out”
           Code of Conduct standard is maintained

    - Be a godly example in all areas, that God would be glorified should the summer missionaries imitate you

    - Communicate with men/women dean regarding any concerns

    - Attend daily staff meetings, starting with Staff Orientation

  • Preparation

    Prepare lesson plan(s) from the notes sent by the Track or Education Coordinator so that the objectives are achieved and is building on what has already been taught

    Review PowerPoint and/or other visuals to use while teaching their class, communicating A/V needs, additional materials, etc. to Track or Education Coordinator

    Class Time

    Dress appropriately – club attire or better

    Start the class on time and end within the allotted time (done in attitude and practice of prayer

    Include active student participation in each class by practicing high octane elements when teaching – demonstrating yourself what students are expected to do in club, ie. activity, movement, word up, songs, etc.

    Invite the team leaders be your teaching partners for question/answer, short discussion, prayer

    Use additional visual aids, skits, illustrations, personal examples that are appropriate for the size of the room and the group

    Review the break out session following your session to see what the student will be practicing.  Give ‘assignment’ to the students before they are dismissed (found in team leader manual)

    Demonstrations/Live Examples

    Emphasize this is what the student is expected to do after preparing/practicing for their presentation

    Use the team leaders and/or those in the advanced class to help with parts of your lesson

    Other/Evaluation

    Attend regular staff meetings during Training.

    Communicate with other instructors regarding student observations, struggles, weaknesses, etc.

    Share ideas that would be helpful in future years

    Pray for yourself and other instructors in preparation, at CYIA and during classes – specifically that each class is engaging and thoroughly equipping the student for summer ministry

  • Prayer

  • Prayer is an important part of ministry.  Our summer missionaries are required to enlist at least four partners (adults, outside your immediate family) to pray regularly for their CEF summer ministry.
    Though not a formal part of the application process for you, we want you to also have people around you praying with and for you during training and the summer.
    Think now about who you might contact to be on your personal prayer team! 
  • Financial Policy

    - in two parts (CYIA & 5-Day Clubs)
  • In order for a Team Leader to become an employee (be paid) you must:
    - submit all required employment paperwork (W-4, I-9, WI work permit) to CEF no later than June 1 and
    - gain pledges/funds that cover $1,150.00 for time of work one (1) week prior to CYIA training.
    If these requirements are not met, you will serve as a volunteer Team Leader at CYIA
  • Teaching 5-Day Clubs (other summer CEF ministry) is a completely different job from being a Team Leader at CYIA Training and a Team Leader will need to be rehired for that position if desired. If a Team Leader does not have a majority of their funds to become a paid employee to teach 5-Day Clubs, they will have to teach clubs as a volunteer.
