  • Assistant Camp Director 

    Assists the Camp Director in the planning, implementation, and operation of CENM.

    Reports to: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
    • Have at least two years in previous camp supervisory role preferred.
    • Have the ability to supervise staff and campers.
    • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Have the ability to plan, organize, and implement all programs and special activities.
    • Have a personal and professional growth and teamwork mindset.
    • Be at least 25 years of age.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Conduct camp planning meetings.
    • Communicate and distribute information with planning committee and all staff.
    • Supervise the set up and take down of all programs and activities.
    • Monitor and implement a crisis emergency management plan.
    • Organize and approve all off-site trips for programs, supplies and crisis management.
    • Monitor safety procedures and the use of camp vehicles.
    • Work closely with all groups hired to provide programs at camp.
    • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of all staff.
    • Provide staff with the support needed to carry out their duties.
    • Supervise and evaluate all staff along with the Leadership Team.
    • Work closely with Leadership Team and Unit Leaders to provide support and guidance.
    • Coordinate transportation for campers.
    • Organize and take annual inventory of all camp supplies.
    • Coordinate with Programming Director.
    • As needed – participate in Fundraising activities.
    • Attend all camp prep meetings monthly and more frequently as camp approaches.
    • Attend all post camp debrief sessions. 
    • Assist in maintaining Camp Enchantment's accredidation with American Camp Association (ACA) and Chilrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status. 

    The Assistant Director is expected to:

    • Continuously monitor all areas of camp to ensure that all areas comply with camp policies and ACA standards.
    • Observe all activities, counselor behavior, and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures when necessary.
    • Have the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to hazards at camp, environmental and otherwise.
    • Communicate clearly and work well with everyone at camp.
    • Provide clear verbal instructions and leadership to everyone at camp.
    • Further his/her knowledge and education in camping by attending professional seminars, classes, and conferences.
    • Be physically able to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
    • Be physically able to participate in camp activities.
    • Be physically able to maneuver throughout camp of their own accord.
  • Med Shed Coordinator

    Develops and operates medical programs and services for children and staff within CENM. Responsible for implementing the plan for camp health care, monitoring health care issues, distribution of medications and medical care, maintaining records and supplies. Reviews all campers’ health exams and vaccinations prior to admittance to camp. Coordinates attention to camper health issues and concerns with the Camp Director and Camp Doctor on site.

    Reports To: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Medical Degree such as MD, PA, or RN and 3 years practicing as a doctor, nurse practitioner, or nurse, in pediatric oncology field.
    • Have the ability to supervise medical staff and campers.
    • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Have the ability to plan, organize, and implement all programs and special activities.
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindest for camp.
    • Be at least 25 years of age.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the set-up, implementation, and take-down of the Med Shed at camp.
    • Communicate and distribute medical information with planning committee and all staff.
    • Ensure Med Shed is runs safely and efficiently.
    • Review Staff and Campers medical documents and charts.
    • Monitor, provide, and oversee medical care during a crisis emergency.
    • Organize and approve all medical care on off-site trips for programs, supplies and crisis management.
    • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of all medical staff.
    • Provide staff with the medical support needed to carry out their duties.
    • Supervise and evaluate all medical staff (MD's, NP's, and RN's).
    • Work closely with Leadership Team and Camp Councelors to provide medical support and guidance to campers.
    • Coordinate med shed staff scheduales and on-call coverage at camp.
    • Coordinate with on-call pediatric oncology physician leading up to and during the week of camp in case of emergency.
    • Coordinate transportation for campers in the event of a medical emergency, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Organize, purchase, and take annual inventory of all camp medical supplies.
    • Be in sympathy with, committed to, and able to motivate others, carrying out the basic purpose of the camp.
    • Assist Camp Director on camp medical policies.
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Chilrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met (for medical portion).
    • Provide medical section of staff training.
    • Attend or delegate medical debriefing for both staff and campers.
    • Directly communicate with parents both application needs and camper complications at camp for post camp (or delegate the appropriate Meds Shed staff to do so).
  • Mental, Emotional, Social Health (MESH) Coordinator and/or Provider 

    The MESH (Mental, Emotional, Social Health) Lead works to effectively engage, connect, and serve all campers. Collaborate with all to include and integrate individual campers’ needs to create a cohesive cabin group environment. The MESH Lead will work with any other MESH providers at camp and the Leadership Team to offer support for campers whose emotional needs may go beyond what their cabin counselors have the tools to support. Support councilors and staff with emotional needs.

    Reports To: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • 2+ years experience working with youth in a mental health or social work capacity, preferably in a pediatric oncology, camp, or school setting.
    • Leadership ability and teamwork oriented; Possess a variety of skills and experience working with youth.
    • Have the ability to supervise campers.
    • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindset. 
    • Be at least 25 years of age.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Review camper applications and contact parents as necessary.
    • Provide training to all camp staff relevant to mental health topics.
    • Work with staff to ensure camper emotional well-being and safety.
    • Ensure that individualized needs of campers are met, meeting one-on-one with campers needing additional support.
    • Play a major role in fostering appropriate behavior among campers, dealing with inappropriate behavior swiftly.
    • Communicate proactively and share incidents with parents/guardians.
    • Collaborate with Co-Lead Camp Councilors to provide resources to cabin counselors to support campers.
    • Support counselors in fostering appropriate behavior and positive group dynamics with cabin.
    • Document parent communication and significant camper interactions and incidents.
    • Support staff in making mandatory reporting referrals, such as to CYFD.
    • Assist Camp Director with escalated behavioral issues.
    • Lead mental health provider and staff during camp.
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Childrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met.

    MESH Coordinator or Provider is expected to: 

    • Maintains positive relationships with campers and staff.
    • Encourages physical, emotional, and spiritual growth and positive character development in all campers.
    • Strives to be an active participant in creating positive programs and spaces at camp.
    • Be physically able to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
    • Be physically able to participate in camp activities.
    • Be physically able to maneuver throughout camp on own accord.
  • Lead Camp Co-Councelor (2 positions that work together)

    Coordinates counselor pairings and provides guidance throughout the week of camp. Serve as mentors and models for all Counselors. Serve as sounding boards and support network for Counselors. Monitor Counselors’ well-being and their Counselor groups for positive feedback and troubleshooting. 

    Responsible to: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to work with children of all ages.
    • Ability to plan, organize and implement classes, training, and special activities for counselors.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindset.
    • At least 21 years of age.
    • Excellent organizational skills and have a growth and team work mindset. 

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Work inconjunction with other Lead Co-Counselor. 
    • Interview counselors with Camp Director and make sure they fulfill the qualifications and required activities.
    • Prior to camp help organize, prepare, and conduct counselor training.
    • Provide daily supervision of counselors at camp focusing on specific skills as needed.
    • Meet regularly with counselors as a group to discuss any problems or situations.
    • Meet individually to discuss the counselor’s performance and offer feedback.
    • Mediate situations that arrise. 
    • Meet with LIT coordinator to discuss counselor relationship with LIT.
    • Evaluate counselors at the end of camp and provide feedback.
    • Meet with the Camp Director and discuss counselor issues and problem solving.
    • Evaluate the program after camp and make changes as needed, based on evaluations and information gathers from counselors, LITs, the Camp Director, and Leadership. 
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Childrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met.

    Lead Co-Counselor is expected to:

    • Observe counselors and provide feedback to them about how they are doing.
    • Offer guidance to counselors on how to handle different situations and problems that may occur.
    • Ensure counselors are participating in activities and classes.
    • Ensure counselors behave in a safe and appropriate manner, including following all camp rules and guidelines, and taking appropriate disciplinary action as necessary, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Supervise all counselor activities; ensure they are safe with regards to the participants and environment. 
    • Participate in all camp activities.
    • Interact and receive feedback from counselors regarding LIT performance, and assist counselors in working with LITs, in conjunction with the LIT Coordinator.
    • Be physically able to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
    • Be physically able to participate in camp activities.
    • Be physically able to maneuver throughout camp on own accord.
  • Leadership in Training (LIT) Coordinator

    Oversees the LIT Program: plans, organizes, and carries out classes, training, and special activities for the LITs. Ensure a smooth relationship between LITs, Counselors, and Campers. 

    Reports To: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to work with youth and young adults of all ages, especially 17-18 year-olds.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and implement classes, training, and special activities for LITs.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
    • Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindset. 
    • At least 21 years of age.
    • Excellent organizational skills.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Interview LITs and make sure they fulfill the qualifications and required activities.
    • Prior to camp, organize, prepare and conduct LIT trainings.
    • Provide as much information as possible to LITs about being a staff member and working with the campers in a way that promotes and emphasizes leadership skills.
    • Conduct a session at Staff Orientation for counselors on the LIT Program.
    • Provide daily supervision of LITs at camp, focusing on specific skills, as needed.
    • Meet regularly with LITs to discuss any problems or situations.
    • Help LITs plan and implement activities.
    • Provide guidance for LITs as needed. 
    • Meet individually to discuss the LIT’s performance and offer feedback.
    • Coordinate with Lead Counselors to discuss LITs progress.
    • Evaluate LITs at the end of camp and provide feedback.
    • Meet with the Camp Director and discuss LIT issues and problem solving.
    • Evaluate the LIT program at the end of camp and make changes as needed, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Childrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met.

    LIT coordinator is expected to:

    • Observe LITs and provide feedback to them about how they are doing.
    • Offer guidance to LITs on handling situations and problems that may occur.
    • Ensure LITs are participating in activities and classes.
    • Assist LITs in planning and running activities.
    • Ensure LITs behave in a safe and appropriate manner, including following all camp rules and guidelines, and taking appropriate disciplinary action as necessary, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Participate in all camp activities.
    • Interact and receive feedback from counselors regarding LITs and assist counselors in training LITs, in conjunction with the Lead Counselors.
    • Be physically able to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
    • Be physically able to participate in camp activities.
    • Be physically able to maneuver throughout camp on own accord.
  • Program Coordinator (2 positions) AKA Fun Facilitators 

    Responsible for camp fun and activities by coordinating classes, activities, supplies, rooms, and staff needed for camp programming. Develops/distributes activity schedules and oversees activity needs. 

    Reports To: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Have the ability to supervise staff and campers.
    • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Have the ability to plan, organize, and implement all programs and special activities.
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindset. 
    • Be at least 25 years of age.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Organize planning and implementation of all camp activities and programs in preparation for camp.
    • Oversee the planning, set up, implementation, and take-down of all camp activities and programs, along with the Logistics Coordinator.
    • Communicate and distribute necessary set-up, operation, and take-down information of all activities with planning committee and staff.
    • Monitor, provide, and assist with camper care during a crisis emergency.
    • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of all instructor staff, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Provide instructors and other staff with the support needed to carry out their duties.
    • Supervise and evaluate all instructor staff.
    • Work closely with Leadership Team and camp counselors to provide support and guidance to campers.
    • Organize, purchase, and take annual inventory of all camp activity supplies.
    • Coordinate with Camp Director and Leadership Team.
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Childrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met.

    LIT coordinator is expected to:

    • Plan and implement activities and activities scheduale leading up to camp and ay camp.
    • Observe all activities, instructor staff behavior, and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures when necessary.
    • Have the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to hazards at camp, environmental and otherwise in an effort to avoid a medical emergency.
    • Communicate clearly and work well with everyone at camp.
    • Provide clear verbal instructions and leadership to everyone at camp.
    • Further his/her knowledge and education in camping by attending professional seminars, classes, and conferences.
    • Be physically able to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
    • Be physically able to participate in camp activities.
    • Be physically able to maneuver throughout camp of their own accord.
  • Logistics Coordinator

    The Logistics Director is responsible for the details of summer camp life. They serve as a part of the Staff Leadership for CE, which offers feedback on staff assignments and helps facilitate logistical details of implementing programs for children and staff within CENM.

    Reports To: Camp Director

    Qualifications:

    • Have the ability to supervise medical staff and campers.
    • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Have the ability to plan, organize, and implement all programs and special activities.
    • Have the ability to plan, organize, and implement all programs and special activities. 
    • Have a growth and teamwork mindset. 
    • Be at least 25 years of age.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the set-up, implementation, and take-down of all camp activities and
    • Programs to assist the Director, Medical Coordinator, Programming Coodinator, and Lead Co-Counselors.
    • Assist Lead Co-Counselors in providing daily relief breaks for counselors.
    • Communicate and distribute necessary set-up/take-down information with planning committee and all staff.
    • Monitor, provide, and assist with camper care during a crisis emergency.
    • Organize and approve all off-site trips for programs, supplies and crisis management.
    • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of all the Smore staff, in conjunction with the Camp Director.
    • Provide Smore staff and other staff with the physical support needed to carry out their duties.
    • Supervise and evaluate all Smores staff.
    • Work closely with Leadership Team and Unit Leaders to provide support and guidance to campers.
    • Organize, inspect and take annual inventory of all camp activity supplies and equipment upon arrival to camp.
    • Instructs all staff to inspect equipment in good working condition before each use.
    • Report any equipment deemed inappropriate will be removed from use and reported on the log form.
    • Coordinate with Camp Director, Medical Director, Programming Director and Lead Counselor. 
    • Ensure standards for American Camp Association (ACA) and Childrens Oncology Camp Association (COCA) Golden Ribbon status are met.

    The Logistics Director is expected to:

    • Observe all activities, Smores staff behavior, and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures when necessary.
    • Have the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to hazards at camp, environmental and otherwise, in an effort to avoid a medical emergency.
    • Communicate clearly and work well with everyone at camp.
    • Provide clear verbal instructions and leadership to everyone at camp.
