The Winter School of Truth is a six-day residential conference for young people. We thank the Lord that this year will mark our 22nd consecutive Truth School in the UK. This time the subject will be "The Vision and Building of the Church", the fifth topic in a six-year cycle.
The Nature and Goal
First Timothy 2:4 says that God desires all men to come to the full knowledge of the truth, and Second Timothy 3:16 says that the scriptures are God-breathed and profitable for teaching. Although it is a "school" in name, the nature of the teaching is not like a secular school where the emphasis is on the acquisition of knowledge. Instead, its emphasis is the experiential apprehension of the truth. This can be likened to a restaurant that not only presents the menu but serves the food listed as dishes for the patron's enjoyment.
The goal is for young people, through this kind of teaching, to taste and see the Lord as the reality of all the truths in the Word. This is carried out in a loving family atmosphere, where the young people are nurtured to grow in the Lord and receive the love of the truth.
Daily Activities
Each day of the Winter School includes small group and large meetings, study sessions and testings, with much singing and enjoyment all centred around the Bible. Throughout the week young people are encouraged to develop their personal relationship with the Lord and corporate pursuit with companions. There are also times for recreation including team-building projects, games and sports as well as an opportunity for some to join a Bible distribution in the local area. The last night of the conference concludes with a delightful graduation for young people who are in their final year.
Safeguarding
The church in London prioritises health, safety and safeguarding. All workers undergo Enhanced DBS checks and the church's approval process. Refer to the first-aid policy, good practice guidelines and safeguarding policy for more details.
Parents Participation
Recognising the crucial role of parents, we would like to coordinate with you to care for your child, ensuring their growth and development in the Lord, and the well-being of all the young participants at the Winter School and beyond.
We encourage you to consider the following:
- Consider Serving: whether you can commit to full-time or part-time, your involvement would be a great shepherding.
- Have a Family Talk: spend some time with your child to discuss the purpose of the winter school, inquire about their expectations for the week, pray together, read through the regulations and complete the agreements together.
