    Production Volunteer Questionnaire

  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Vancouver International Jazz Festival Production Crew!

Production volunteers are involved with all the equipment that the festival provides for the musicians to use on stage. From tagging inventory in our production warehouse to moving gear to/from venues to assisting the stage manager with set up, the Production Volunteers are instrumental to a successful festival. (See what we did there?)

Warehouse Equipment volunteers don't need technical qualifications, other than a good work ethic and a desire to learn. Drum Assistants, Drum Techs, and Staging volunteers all need a basic level of technical knowledge and staging experience and will need to fill out this questionnaire in order for us to assign a qualification level that will give you access to production shifts.

Please note: Completing this questionnaire is an additional reuirement to your Jazz Fest volunteer application. https://www.coastaljazz.ca/volunteers/new-volunteers/

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • Expectations of a Production Volunteer

The festival usually operates with small production teams and relies on all Production volunteers to

    • arrive on time for shifts or provide advance notice if unable to start on time
    • be able to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
    • be able to stand for extended periods of time
    • be able to wait until needed but also anticipate what might be needed
    • understand that during a shift there may be periods of physical activity and periods of waiting
    • follow instructions and ask clarifying questions if needed
    • understand that the purpose of the staging and drum tech roles is to support the stage manager and artists in being able to perform their duties
    • understand that there is a specific time and place for networking and building connections in the music industry
  • I understand and agree to the expectations of a Production volunteer*
  • Volunteering with the Production department is probably not a good fit for you at the moment, but the festival has many other departments that you can get involved with.

  • Relevant Experience

In order to make sure that you have access to shifts that are compatible with your skill level, we need some information. Don't worry if you have little or no experience. Opportunities in our equipment warehouse will give you the opportunity to learn at least 1 new thing during you Jazz Fest experience.
