Initiated in 2013, the Community Foundation’s David Borges Outstanding Community Involvement award is named in honour of David Borges, former Board Chair of the Community Foundation, who passed away suddenly in April 2012. The award is provided annually to a business in Cambridge or North Dumfries that best represents the mission of the Community Foundation – to enhance the Cambridge and North Dumfries area by creating a culture of community involvement and philanthropy.
There are two ways to nominate a business for the David Borges Award:
Direct Application/Nomination– companies interested in nominating their business to receive the award can complete the application/nomination form themselves.
Community Group Nomination – non-profit organizations and local charities can nominate a business that has significantly impacted their work in the community.
Evidence of philanthropic gifts as indicated by financial and in-kind support of projects in the local Cambridge or North Dumfries community;
Description of impact and achievements in philanthropy and/or community involvement; and
Evidence of philanthropic support of creative initiatives to meet the community’s needs.
