    NOTE: None of the personal information collected below will be shared with the jury or has any bearing on the decision, it is for internal purposes only and so that we can follow up with you as needed.

  • There are no age restrictions; however, applicants should be composers at the early stages of their professional careers. Would you consider yourself to be in the early stages of your professional compositional career?*
  • Only works that have not been officially premiered prior to the WSO world premiere are eligible. Has your work been premiered?*
    • Instrumentation SHOULD NOT exceed: woodwinds at 2*.2*.2.2; brass at 4.3.3.1; timpani plus 2 percussion; harp; and strings at 12.11.8.7.6. *Available doublings are Flute 2/piccolo, and Oboe 2/English Horn. Works with instrumentation that exceed the above will not be considered, they may, however, be re-orchestrated to conform to this instrumentation.
    • Submissions SHOULD NOT exceed 6 minutes in duration.
  • Does your submitted work fit the instrumentation and duration criteria as described above?*
  • Are you a CMC Associate Composer?*
  • If you are NOT a CMC Associate Composer, would you be interested in becoming one?
  • Create a new Dropbox (preferable) folder using the following naming format: LASTNAME-FIRSTNAME-PieceTitle. PLEASE ENSURE that you do not “share” the folder; only direct links will be accepted. Inside the folder, include all of the following:


    - An info document indicating your name, contact information, composition title, exact instrumentation, duration; use the naming format LASTNAME-FIRSTNAME-Info;
    - A PDF score with all references to your name and professional/academic affiliations omitted; use the naming format PieceTitle.pdf;
    - An MP3 recording (live or mock-up) with any reference to your name and affiliations omitted from the metadata (ID3); use the naming format PieceTitle.mp3

    Program notes explaining context, structure, and techniques employed are encouraged to assist jury members with evaluation, but must not included information that could identify you specifically. You will begiven the opportunity to revise your program notes to be more specific if you are selected.
