OCIA | OCIC Program Requirements
Punctual Attendance of Candidates | Asistencia Puntual de los Candidatos(as) English:I n-person catechetical formation will begin on Sunday, August 23, 2026.Candidates 18 years of age or older who are currently attending college, university, or another educational institution will participate in the corresponding adult formation program. For children and youth between the ages of 7 and 17, the catechetical formation process is a two-year program, also beginning on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Punctual and consistent attendance is an essential part of the formation process. If a candidate accumulates more than three absences, whether excused or unexcused, the parent, legal guardian, or adult candidate must schedule a meeting with the Director of Catechetical Ministry to review the situation and determine whether the candidate may continue in the catechetical program. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Español: La catequesis presencial dará inicio el domingo, 23 de agosto de 2026. Los candidatos mayores de 18 años que se encuentren cursando estudios de colegio, universidad u otra institución educativa participarán en el programa correspondiente de formación para adultos. Para los niños(as) y jóvenes de 7 a 17 años, el proceso de formación catequética tendrá una duración de dos años, comenzando igualmente el domingo, 23 de agosto de 2026. La asistencia puntual y constante es parte esencial del proceso de formación. Si el candidato(a) acumula más de tres ausencias, justificadas o no, el padre, madre, tutor legal o candidato adulto deberá programar una cita con el Director de Pastoral Catequética para evaluar la situación y determinar la continuidad del candidato(a) en el programa.

Adult Participation in Catechetical Formation | Participación de los Adultos en la Catequesis English: All adults enrolled in the OCIA program are required to participate in the following retreats: Advent Retreat 2026, Lenten Retreat 2027, and the End-of-Year Retreat for those preparing to receive a Sacrament of Christian Initiation. Parents or legal guardians of children and youth enrolled in the OCIC program are also expected to participate in the retreats and formation opportunities designated for families. An individual meeting will be scheduled with the Pastor and the Director of Catechetical Ministry to review the candidate’s circumstances, sacramental history, and readiness, and to determine the appropriate formation process for the candidate. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Español: Todos los adultos inscritos en el programa OCIA deberán participar en los siguientes retiros: Retiro de Adviento 2026, Retiro de Cuaresma 2027 y Retiro de Fin de Año para aquellos que se estén preparando para recibir un Sacramento de Iniciación Cristiana. Los padres, madres o tutores legales de los niños(as) y jóvenes inscritos en el programa OCIC también deberán participar en los retiros y oportunidades de formación designadas para las familias. Se programará una cita individual con el Párroco y el Director de Pastoral Catequética para revisar la situación del candidato(a), su historial sacramental y su disposición para el proceso, y así determinar el proceso de formación más adecuado.

Punctual Mass Attendance Requirement | Requisito de Asistencia PUNTUAL a la Misa English: Children and youth enrolled in the English OCIC Program will attend the 10:00 AM Mass. Candidates must arrive by 9:30 AM for check-in and preparation. Following Mass, they will continue with their catechetical formation from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM. Children and youth enrolled in the Spanish OCIC Program will participate in catechetical formation from 9:30 AM–11:30 AM and will then attend the 12:00 PM (Noon) Mass. Adults enrolled in the OCIA Program will attend the 10:00 AM Mass and must arrive by 9:30 AM for check-in and preparation. Candidates and their families are expected to arrive punctually and participate faithfully in both Sunday Mass and catechetical formation. Regular participation in the Sunday Eucharist is an essential part of the Christian initiation process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Español: Los niños(as) y jóvenes inscritos en el Programa OCIC en Inglés asistirán a la Misa de las 10:00 AM. Los candidatos deberán llegar a más tardar a las 9:30 AM para registrarse y prepararse. Después de la Misa, continuarán con su formación catequética de 11:30 AM–1:00 PM.Los niños(as) y jóvenes inscritos en el Programa OCIC en Español participarán en su formación catequética de 9:30 AM–11:30 AM y posteriormente asistirán a la Misa de las 12:00 PM (mediodía).Los adultos inscritos en el Programa OCIA asistirán a la Misa de las 10:00 AM y deberán llegar a más tardar a las 9:30 AM para registrarse y prepararse.Se espera que los candidatos y sus familias lleguen puntualmente y participen fielmente tanto en la Misa dominical como en la formación catequética. La participación regular en la Eucaristía dominical es parte esencial del proceso de Iniciación Cristiana.

Sacraments of Christian Initiation | Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristiana English: Candidates enrolled in the OCIA Program who are 18 years of age or older will participate in a formation process of approximately nine months. Those who are properly prepared and discerned will receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist — at the Easter Vigil.Children and youth enrolled in the OCIC Program, ages 7–17, will participate in a two-year formation process. Those who are properly prepared will receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist — at the Easter Vigil during their second year of formation. Each candidate is required to have at least one sponsor (godfather, godmother, or both) who meets the requirements established by the Catholic Church. The sponsor(s) will also be required to participate in the designated sponsor retreat. Robes will not be required for the celebration of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Español: Los candidatos inscritos en el Programa OCIA que tengan 18 años de edad o más participarán en un proceso de formación de aproximadamente nueve meses. Aquellos que estén debidamente preparados y hayan completado el proceso de discernimiento recibirán los Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristiana — Bautismo, Confirmación y Sagrada Eucaristía — durante la Vigilia Pascual.Los niños(as) y jóvenes inscritos en el Programa OCIC, de 7 a 17 años, participarán en un proceso de formación de dos años. Aquellos que estén debidamente preparados recibirán los Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristiana — Bautismo, Confirmación y Sagrada Eucaristía — durante la Vigilia Pascual de su segundo año de formación.Cada candidato(a) deberá contar con por lo menos un padrino, madrina o ambos, quienes deberán cumplir con los requisitos establecidos por la Iglesia Católica. El padrino, madrina o ambos también deberán participar en el retiro designado para padrinos.No será obligatorio el uso de túnica para la celebración de los Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristiana.
