  • For Dual-PVA Applicants Only

Only complete this page and select a second PVA program if you are applying to be a Dual PVA student.
  • Important Information

Dual PVA students take two PVA programs simultaneously across all 3 years of high school. This pathway is challenging and is only suitable for students who have strong time-mangement, organization, and study skills. If the teaching staff feel that you are a strong candidate for the Dual PVA route, we will offer placement in both. If we feel you are a better fit for one PVA program over another, we still encourage you to take the non-PVA (general) fine arts version of that course instead.

    Additionally:

    • Dual PVA means you take two PVA classes each day for the full year. The remaining classes to fill in your timetable are reserved for English, Social Studies, Math, Sciences. You may not have room for additional options classes (complementary courses).
    • Calm 20 and Phys Ed 10 are graduation requirements in Alberta. These courses do not fit into the timetabled day for Dual PVA students. You will need to arrange online or summer school for completing these courses.
    • There are limited sections offered each year for Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Dual PVA students may not always have room in their timetable to enroll in the AP course(s) they want to while being Dual PVA.

Applicants who are seriously interested in applying for two PVA programs as a Dual PVA student must complete the audition and interview (or portfolio upload and interview) for both programs.

    • have a high interest in and passion for the arts
  • PART C: AGREEMENTS

    PVA STUDENT ENROLLMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

    1. Participate to the best of their ability and display commitment to all aspects of their learning in all classes at Central.
    2. Attend PVA classses, rehearsals, performances and special events.
    3. Help create a welcoming, caring, and inclusive environment for learning among others.

Students who withdraw from PVA and are not designated to Central Memorial may be required to return to their designated high school.

PVA ARTIST FEES - PARENT SUPPORT

Although school funds contribute to basic programming, PVA students are offered enriched learning opportunities that come at additional Course Fee cost ranging from $75-350 per year. Revenue from PVA artist fees as well as support from Calgary Performing and Visual Arts Foundation (CPVAF) and Central Memorial Music Parent Association (CMMPA) provide artist residencies, workshops, guest speakers, learning supplies, offsite activities, etc. For more information, contact Michelle Crimmins PVA Learning Leader at mlcrimmins@cbe.ab.ca

By checking the box below, students and parents/caregivers acknowledge awareness of the above.
