Oustanding Foundation
This award recognizes a community or family foundation (non-corporate) with a strong record of exceptional generosity that, through direct financial support, has demonstrated exceptional or innovative civic and charitable responsibility, and has encouraged and motivated others in the foundation community to take leadership roles in philanthropy and community involvement. NOTE: Corporate foundations are not eligible for this award. See Outstanding Large Corporation/Outstanding Small Business categories for corporate foundation nomination instructions.
For the purposes of this application, family and community foundation are defined as follows:
A family foundation is one whose funds are derived from members of a single family. At least one family member must continue to serve as an officer or board member of the foundation (e.g. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation).
A community foundation is a publicly supported philanthropic organization with the long-term goal of building permanent, named funds, for the broad-based public benefit of the residents in a given area (e.g. Silicon Valley Community Foundation).
