Position Summary
The Manager of Programs and Events oversees all aspects of weekly programs, from start to finish, from big-picture to detailed execution, planning individual virtual and in-person programs and series, sourcing and engaging speakers, and executing program management end-to-end.
This position reports to the Central Exchange leader.
Specifically, the Manager of Programs and Events:
· Sources and procures speakers and facilitators for programs, engaging with them throughout the entire planning process, in collaboration with the CX Team.
· Plans, designs and manages all detail for all types of monthly programs for members, including series, in-person and virtual (approximately 8 programs a month).
· Supports facilitators for exchange circles in the planning, administration and execution of their program and through the planning of in-person gatherings.
· Engages with members and contributes to key member experience through helpful and desired programming, including managing details for member-led programming.
· Collaborates closely with CX Marketing and Membership staff in planning and executing programs.
· Builds programs in CRM (Memberzone), schedules and starts all virtual programs in Zoom, and is responsible for set up and breakdown for all in-person programs at respective locations.
· Promotes programs through email (program invitations and bi-weekly eNews) and creates all follow-up communications.
· Assists with signature programs and events as needed, such as CX’s year-long Emerging Leaders Program, the annual Midwest Leadership Summit in April, and the annual STEMMy Awards in October.
· Creates and maintains a virtual on-demand program database.
Education, Work Experience, Work Environment
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or years of experience that demonstrates possession of core competencies.
Work Experience: A minimum of 5 – 7 years of professional experience across one or more of the following: learning and development, program management, program design, event management, public relations, marketing and communications, curriculum development, speaker management, customer relationships and/or vendor management.
Work Environment: This is a hybrid position with a varying amount of days weekly in the office and travel across various venues around the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively represent the organization with speakers, facilitators, corporate partners, and members.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with team members across a wide variety of projects.
· Flexible to changing environment and organizational needs.
· Organized, detail-oriented and with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and with a team.
· Experience managing a portfolio of programs and initiatives autonomously.
· Experience with CRM systems, email platforms (ex. Constant Contact), Microsoft Products, and Zoom preferred.
· Strong relationship builder with experience working with multiple sets of stakeholders including members, speakers, facilitators and partners.
· Innovative and forward-thinking mindset. Ability to make connections to the community of members, partners, companies, organizations and speakers to promote and foster relationships with women at Central Exchange.
· Expertise in learning or event design and management including sourcing content, speakers and delivering programs using channels best suited for the content.
