    We believe that all members of our Institute should aspire to become Chartered Fellows: it is the highest status conferred by the Institute upon individuals who have distinguished themselves in their careers. To be elected a Fellow you must be considered by our Board of Trustees to have made a significant contribution to banking and to the objectives of the Institute.
  • Before you begin, please note that you will require to upload an electronic copy of your CV and a photograph (headshot). You will also require the contact details of a proposer and seconder to support your nomination.

  • Section 2 - Qualifications and experience

    Applicants for Fellowship should be experienced banking practitioners and are required to hold or attain Chartered Banker status. Nominees are expected to have made a significant contribution to the work of the Institute and the banking profession. They must also demonstrate an ongoing commitment to continuing professional development and act as a role model and mentor to others in the profession.
  • Please indicate how long you have worked in banking.         
    You will require ten years' experience to be eligible for Fellowship.

  • If you currently hold Chartered Banker status, please note your qualification      and the year completed      

  • If you do not hold Chartered Banker status please confirm that you wish to apply for the fast-track route to Fellowship and our Chartered Banker by Experience programme       
    Please note that:

    • By applying for the fast-track route you will be required to complete the Chartered Banker by Experience programme or an equivalent approved by the Institute's Board
    • You are committing to pay the fees for the Chartered Banker by Experience programme and will be invoiced for payment before your application is assessed. Current fees can be found here
    • Should your experience not match our requirements for the qualification, you will receive a reimbursement of fees. We will deduct an administrative charge to cover the cost of the pre-screening activity. The current charge can be found on the qualification page under the eligibility tab.
    • Being accepted onto the Chartered Banker by Experience Programme is not a guarantee that your application for Fellowship will be approved
    • Being considered for Fellowship is not a guarantee that you will be accepted onto or complete the Chartered Banker by Experience programme.

  • Section 3 - Photograph and biography

  • Please provide a short biography of approximately 50-80 words (100 max). The box below will expand to filt your text.

    If you are able, we would be grateful if you could also share a headshot photograph.

    The biography and headshot may be used to introduce you if you participate in one of our Fellowship recognition events. They may also be used to support any announcements, including website, publications or social media.

  • Section 4 - A piece of contributed content

  • To support your Fellowship application we would like you to produce a piece of content or other contribution which could be shared with members, this might include, but is not limited to, a blog, article or video testimonial.

    A blog or article could showcase your expertise in a particular area of banking or might address a current hot topic in which you have particular interest or experience.

    By video testimonial we mean a piece on why you value your nstitute qualifications and/or membership and how they have contributed to your career.

    If you would like to discuss an idea for a contribution or have questions about format, please email fellowship@charteredbanker.com.

    If submitting a written contribution, this shoud either be a Word file or a pdf. If submitting a video, we recommend that you record the video on a smartphone or other mobile device to obtain the best quality but you could also use a computer/laptop.

  • Section 5 - Declaration to be completed by applicant

    1. I give consent for the information submitted in this form to be used to process my application for Fellowship and to determine whether I meet the Institute's criteria for Fellowship. Please follow this link if you would like to view our privacy policy. 

    2. I consent for my Fellowship application, supporting documentation and video statement to be shared with the Institute's mentor, who is a Fellow of the Institute and not necessarily an employee. I also consent for this material to be shared with the Instiute's Nominations Committee and Board of Trustees.

    3. If elected, I agree to be bound by the published Rules and Regulations of the Chartered Banker Institute, including the Code of Professional Conduct.

    4. Please answer Yes or No to the following questions. If the answer is Yes in any case, please explain the circumstances in the comments section below. Failure to answer the questions honestly and disclose any relevant information may result in the withdrawal of any Fellowship awarded.
  • Section 6 - Personal statements

    Please complete the personal statements below. The boxes will expand to fit your response. You are not required to submit a specific number of words. However, we may request additional information if you fail to cover the points requested and this will delay consideration of your nomination.
  • Section 7 - Proposer and seconder

    Please provide the contact details for a proposer and seconder to support your application. These should be individuals who could provide confirmation of your significant contribution to banking and to the objectives of the Institute. They might be existing Fellows of the Institute or individuals who have known the applicant in a business or education capacity. This could include appropriate representatives of financial services organisations or a current/former employer. The proposer and seconder must have known the applicant in a business or education capacity for a minimum of two years. Please note that we will contact all proposers and seconders. Sponsors must be easily searchable online to enable us to confirm their name and role.

  • Please provide contact details (ideally work email and phone number) for your proposer. We will thank your proposer for their support and will ask for some additional information.

  • Please provide contact details (email or phone number) for your seconder. We will thank your seconder for their support and may ask for some additional information.

  • Section 8 - Signature

  • I give consent for the information on this form, my CV and video statement to be used to consider me for Fellowship of the Chartered Banker Institute and, if the application is approved, I will be happy to accept the appointment and to pay the standard annual subscription for Fellows.

    Further details regarding these payments will be sent to you at a later date. See www.charteredbanker.com/membership for the relevant subscription rate.

    I give consent for my short biography and photograph (if supplied) to be used in any listing of new Fellows and in relation to any recognition event I participate in. 

    If applying for the fast-track route I acknowledge that I am also applying for the Chartered Banker by Experience qualification and am willing to pay the appropriate fees. I understand that acceptance on the programme is not a guarantee that my application for Fellowship will be approved. I also understand that consideration for Fellowship is not a guarantee that I will be accepted for or complete the Chartered Banker by experience qualification.
