This six-part series is designed to support internationally educated nurses as they transition into practice within the Canadian healthcare system, with a focus on long-term care in New Brunswick. Through practical, real-world learning and peer connection, participants will build confidence, strengthen their understanding of expectations, and develop the skills needed to succeed in their roles.
Session 1: Understanding the Canadian Healthcare System & Your Role

Focus: Orientation to the health care system and role clarity
- Overview of healthcare in Canada and New Brunswick
- Differences between nursing homes, special care homes, hospitals, and community care
- Roles of RNs, LPNs, and unregulated care providers
- Expectations of nurses in Canadian practice
