Synopsis:
Too often we misunderstand our biological and spiritual family members’ intentions in our communication and interaction. Many factors contribute to such challenges in inter-generational interaction. Understanding how we develop at every stage of our lives will give us awareness and, more importantly, wisdom and discernment to understand where our loved ones come from. Human developmental stage knowledge helps us to respond with love and grace to each other more naturally and effectively.
Walking through the stages of life from birth to late adulthood:
(1) Understanding the characteristics of each developmental stage
(2) Strength and wisdom inherent in each stage of development will be highlighted
(3) Building healthy interaction with each developmental stage will be explored
As we use U.S.B. to weave into the fabric of our inter-generational relationships, we can develop a wholesome multiple-generation family-in-Christ! A church that Christ intended.
It’s not uncommon to feel misunderstood or judged by those who are older or younger. We will explore some of these common thoughts from different age groups:
Teens: "Why don’t my parents ever understand me?"
Young Adults: "Why do older adults keep judging me and think they know better?"
Midlife Adults: "Why can’t my kids learn from me, why do they keep making the same mistakes?"
Older Adults: "Am I still relevant? Why do younger generations seem to ignore me?"
