  • The City of Palmdale is committed to providing City of Palmdale residents expanded accessibility to our programs and facilities to ensure that no child is denied an opportunity to participate in our  programming because of economic hardship. If you and your family are current residents of the City of Palmdale and are low-income, you may qualify for a scholarship.     The Department of Parks and Recreation has a limited number of scholarships available for children who wish to participate in select parks and recreation programs. All scholarships, regardless of need, are limited by donated funds and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. 

    APPLICATION PROCESS & INSTRUCTIONS

    • Gather resident verification and income verification documents.
    • Set-up an Active Net account at www.PlayPalmdale.com. Your child will need to be set up as a family member in the system.
    • Submit your completed scholarship program application (one form per child/per household) by the submission period deadline. Late/incomplete applications will not be accepted. 
    • Your application will be processed and reviewed for approval. If approved, scholarship award will be placed on your Active Net account (the account must be set up prior to application submission) and you will have until the program's season deadline to utilize those scholarship funds. Funds are nontransferable or refundable.
    • Applicants may re-apply and/or may be eligible to receive other scholarships.
    • At registration time, you will have the option to pay with scholarship funds. If there is a balance remaining, you must pay the balance before you are registered for the class/program. Scholarships do not guarantee enrollment into a program,

  • The Department of Parks and Recreation offers a range of scholarship opportunities for children 17 years of age or younger, designed to enhance participation in recreation programs, swim safety, and recreation swim activities. These scholarships are available to City of Palmdale residents living within city limits and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, limited by the availability of donated funds.

    Scholarships are offered across various seasons: the recreational scholarship is available four times a year for spring, summer, fall and winter; the swim safety scholarship is offered once annually during the summer season (May-August); and the recreation swim scholarship, also available in the summer, provides $25 towards a recreation swim membership.

    For each child per immediate family, an award can be granted per season. Recipients of summer recreational scholarships are ineligible for swim safety scholarships in the same season but can apply for the recreation swim and/or Dusty's Kid's scholarship programs. Conversely, swim safety scholarship recipients cannot receive a recreation scholarship in the same period but may qualify for the Recreation Swim or Dusty's Child scholarship programs. The Recreation Swim scholarship, offering a $25 credit, allows for other scholarship applications and can be used for a 10-20-or-40 pack membership refillable throughout the season at any pool location.

    The maximum scholarship amount does not exceed 50% of the total registration fee, excluding additional costs like material fees and uniforms. Scholarship funds are strictly for the season awarded and cannot be refunded as cash or credit. Applicants must create an Active Net account at www.PlayPalmdale.com before submission, where approved funds will be credited.

    Exclusions apply across the scholarships: recreational scholarships do not cover scuba diving, private swim lessons, swim safety programs, adult classes or sports, or memberships. Swim safety scholarships also exclude scuba and private swim lessons, while Recreation Swim scholarships are not valid for lap swim, swim lessons, or other recreation programming. Each child within a household must submit a separate application for the chosen scholarship program.

  • Recreational Scholarship Application

  • The Department of Parks and Recreation has a limited number of recreational scholarships available year-round for children, 17 years of age or younger, who wish to participate in recreation programs or activities. All scholarships, regardless of need, are limited by donated funds and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • The recreational scholarship program is held annually and is available three times a year for either the winter/spring, summer, and fall seasons.
    • All City of Palmdale Youth Scholarship Program applicants must be a City of Palmdale resident and reside within the City limits.
    • Award is per child, per immediate family, per season.
    • The maximum amount of a recreational scholarship shall not exceed 50% of the total registration fee.
    • Additional costs (material fees, uniforms, etc.) above the initial registration fee are not included.
    • Scholarship funds must be used within the season period and cannot be refunded in the form of cash or credit.
    • Prior to award approval, an Active Net account will need to be created prior to submitting your application by visiting www.PlayPalmdale.com. If approved, scholarship funding will be loaded on to your child's account.
    • The recreation scholarship is not eligible for scuba, private swim lessons, swim safety programs, adult only classes, adult sports, or memberships.

    Please complete the following information for the scholarship program of choice. If you are applying for multiple children within a household, each child will need their own application submission.

  • Recreation Swim Scholarship Application

  • The Department of Parks and Recreation has a limited number of RECREATION SWIM scholarships available for children, 17 years of age or younger. Recreation swim sessions, also known as open swim, are family friendly and is available during the summer season. This scholarship program will allow for $25 in funding that can be used towards the purchase of a recreation swim membership. All scholarships, regardless of need, are limited by donated funds and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • The recreation swim scholarship program is held seasonally and available only during the summer season (May-August).
    • All City of Palmdale Youth Scholarship Program applicants must be a City of Palmdale resident and reside within the City limits.
    • Award is for a $25 credit per child, per immediate family.
    • Scholarship funds must be used within the summer season period and cannot be ref.unded in the form of cash or credit.
    • Recreation swim memberships come in a 10-20-or-40 pack and are refillable throughout the season. Membership can be used at any pool location.
    • Prior to award approval, an Active Net account will need to be created prior to submitting your application by visiting www.PlayPalmdale.com. If approved, scholarship funding will be loaded on to your child's account.
    • The Recreation Swim scholarship is not eligible for lap swim, swim lessons, recreation activities, or programming.
  • Swim Safety Scholarship Application

  • The Department of Parks and Recreation has a limited number of SWIM SAFETY scholarships available for children, 17 years of age or younger, who wish to participate in SWIM SAFETY programs. All scholarships, regardless of need, are limited by donated funds and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • The swim safety scholarship program is held once a year and is available only during the summer season (May-August).
    • All City of Palmdale Youth Scholarship Program applicants must be a City of Palmdale resident and reside within the City limits.
    • Maximum amount of swim safety scholarship shall not exceed 50% of the total registration fee.
    • Additional costs (material fees, uniforms, etc.) above the initial registration fee are not included.
    • Scholarship funds must be used within the season period and cannot be refunded in the form of cash or credit.

  • Dusty's Kids Scholarship Application

  • Any resident of the City of Palmdale is eligible to apply for a scholarship for a four pack of one day tickets. Applicants must show proof of residency through our online registration application and the address must match the submitted verification documents. Limited to one scholarship per address for the 2025 operating year. For DryTown scholarships, only (1) application PER family is required and will be awarded in the amount of (4) tickets.

    Scholarships are based on annual income and a copy of one of the following programs is required during the application process – CalWORKS, AFDC, SSI, Food Stamps, Medicaid.
    All City of Palmdale Youth Scholarship Program applicants must be a City of Palmdale resident and reside within the City limits.

    • Available for each Monday – Thursday during 2025 operating calendar.
      Excludes Holidays (May 26 & June 19).
    • Limit of 48 total tickets (12 four packs) available per day. While supplies last.
    • Applications must be received one week prior to the selected date.
    • Tickets are date specific and must be redeemed on the date chosen.
    • Tickets will be available for pick up on the selected day in the DryTown office.
    • Picture ID required for redemption.
    • One adult required to be present during the length of stay.
