    GREETINGS

  • The Christmas Parade Committee invites you, your group, or organization to participate in the City of Selma Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The theme for this year's parade is "A Rockin Christmas in the City of Lights" and we would love your participation in this fun-filled annual event. A list of rules, procedures, the parade route map, and a parade registration information are enclosed. The floats will be judged by individuals from the community who are not affiliated with the City of Selma or the Chamber of Commerce. Judges will use a numbered criteria list to judge the floats. The floats with the highest points total will win a first, second, or third place ribbon.

    Please complete the online registration form and payment to enter the parade. All fees must be paid for registration to be considered complete; no partial registrations will be accepted - this includes insurance cards and driver's licenses of all drivers. Fees are non-refundable and are required with registration. Non-payment will void registration. A late fee of $100.00 will be applied to any forms turned in after November 18 and no forms will be accepted after November 28, 2022 - NO EXCEPTIONS. Completion and signing of the registration form indicates that you agree to abide by all the rules set forth by the Parade Committee. Online registration is perferred, but in person registration and payment can be made at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library or City of Selma Office of Planning & Development. Please make all checks payable to: City of Selma - Christmas Parade.

                Float Unit (one puller/per entry)

                Registration of a vehicle in the parade requires entrant to provide a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, tag number, and make and model of vehicle. Each entry will be assigned a number which must be visible in the front windshield of the vehicle at all times.

                Motorized Vehicular Unit

                Registration of a vehicle in the parade requires entrant to provide a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, tag number, and make and model of vehicle. Driver MUST be person listed on registration form. Each entry will be assigned a number which must be visible in the front windshield of the vehicle at all times.

                Walking Unit (Pedestrians, Scouts, Dance teams, etc.)

                All participants must be in costume or uniform. *PLEASE INSERT "N/A" IN REQUIRED FIELDS THAT DO NOT APPLY TO YOUR REGISTRATION.

              • RULES & REQUIREMENTS

              • MOTORIZED VEHICLES: (floats, cars, trucks, motorcycles, emergency vehicles) must be submitted with a copy of valid driver's license, proof of insurance, tag number, and make and model of the vehicle. THE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION ATTACHED.

                We will be working closely with the Selma Police Department to ensure the safety of the participants as well as the spectators. Vehicles will be placed at least two abreast to keep the flow of the parade moving along. All units must travel the parade route in a straight line, moving forward at all times. Weaving, circling and stopping are strictly prohibited. Please ask all members of your group abide by the enclosed list of rules which are applicable to all participants. The Selma Police Department will be empowered to remove any participant whose actions are deemed unsafe. The ultimate goal is to provide a fun, family oriented parade that will help us make and share special memories with Selma and Dallas County children.

                General safety precautions and rules:

                • No use or possession of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances
                • No throwing or handing out of candy or other items. Citations will be issued to anyone that is not in compliance.
                • No riding on hoods, trunks or roofs of vehicles
                • All car doors are to remain closed throughout parade route
                • All music MUST be Christmas music
                • All dancing MUST be appropriate and decent for family viewing
                • NO SANTA CLAUS OTHER THAN THE ONE THE CITY HAS ENLISTED
                • Line-up is at 10:00 a.m. - MUST PICK UP A NUMBER TO PARTICIPATE. Any participant without a number will be pulled from the parade.
                • MUST include name and phone number of someone who can be reached the day of parade in case of postponement or other problems

                I, the undersigned, accept full responsibility and assume the risk for my participation. I, the undersigned, understand and agree to secure and maintain medical insurance on the participant/participants during the entire duration of participation. I, the undersigned, indemnify and hold the City of Selma, their employees, officers and staff harmless from any and all liability, claims, expenses, demands or legal actions or causes of action whatsoever arising out of or in connection with any loss, injury or damage associated with my participation.

                Furthermore, I the undersigned, agree to abide by and follow all safety requirements and/or directions provided.

                Parade Route: Line up on Washington Street. At corner Washington St. / Water Ave. turn right (West) on Water Ave. to Broad St., right (North) on Broad St., right (East) on Furniss Ave. to Washington St., right (South) on Washington St. to disband.
