  • YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION & CERTIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY

  • The City of Claremont provides a 50% scholarship of class/camp fees (up to a maximum of $480 per year, per child) for children of low-income families. Scholarships expire at the end of this fiscal year (June 30th) or when funds are exhausted. Applicants must reapply annually in April. You will be contacted once your scholarship has been reviewed. The scholarship cannot be applied to activities for which you registered prior to receiving approval notification from the Human Services Department. To qualify for the discount, you must: 1) live or attend school in the City of Claremont, and 2) meet the low-income criteria set forth by HUD.

      • Complete & signed Federal Tax Return (most recent including all schedules. (REQUIRED)
      • A complete copy of your 2 most recent bank statements for each bank account you have (checking, savings, etc.) (REQUIRED)
      • Letter from the Social Security Office stating the benefits you receive.
      • Any other document which proves a recurring source of income.

      Official Identification Cards WITH Claremont Addresses

      • State-issued driver's license showing a Claremont address
      • State-issued photo identification card showing a Claremont address
        Official Identification Cards WITHOUT Claremont Addresses

      One of the following documents showing the name on the account AND a Claremont address, accompanied by a state-issued photo identification or driver's license.

      • Vehicle registration
      • Utility bill (water, power, or gas)
      • Car insurance
      • Lease agreement

      Students

      • Current year identification card from any of the Claremont Colleges
      • Current year identification card or transcript from any CUSD school

      1. I will notify the City of Claremont Human Services Department within 10 days of any change in fact or circumstances (including change in residence or income), which may cause me to become ineligible for an exemption from the scholarship program.
      2. The combined annual income of all members of the household in which I reside is less than the established for Los Angeles County by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for low-income families of the applicable household size.
      3. I understand that any person knowingly receiving the benefits of this discount when the basis for the discount does not exist or ceases to exist shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
