    • Certification and Agreement

      You must agree to all of the following to apply for an ICC committee or council.
    • Considerable effort, devotion and hard work will be expected of each Committee member. Committee membership carries an obligation to participate actively in all work of the Committee including the contribution and generation of information, prompt reply to draft reports and ballots, attendance and participation at Committee meetings and prompt completion of assigned tasks.

      In consideration of the intangible value of participating in a Committee of the International Code Council (ICC), the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned hereby agrees as follows:

      A. The undersigned hereby agrees:

      1. To abide by the applicable rules and policies of ICC;
      2. To notify ICC of a change in any information provided in this application agreement, including a change in the organization represented, source of funding, or employment;
      3. All of the undersigned’s written and oral contributions to ICC in connection with work performed as a member of an ICC Committee at any time (“Contributions”) are considered to be works made for hire for ICC;*
      4. To the extent that any Contributions, in whole or in part, are not deemed works made for hire of ICC or the undersigned otherwise retains any rights (including copyright) to such Contributions, the undersigned hereby irrevocably grants, transfers, and assigns to ICC all such worldwide right, title, and interest in and to the Contributions, from the moment of creation, including the right to sue and recover damages and other relief for past, present, and future infringements;
      5. The undersigned has no rights in any ICC publications that use the Contributions; and
      6. The undersigned is an independent contractor to ICC and this agreement will not be construed to create any employee or agency relationship between the undersigned and ICC for any purpose. The undersigned does not primarily work for the Committee or at the Committee’s location and is able to work with other entities.

      *Item A.3 is not applicable to Committee members based in California.

      B. The undersigned represents and warrants:

      1. The Contributions are not protected by the copyright of any other person or entity;
      2. The undersigned has full power and authority to enter into and perform all obligations under this agreement and to grant the rights granted herein (including having obtained any consents necessary);
      3. The Contributions do not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property or contractual rights; and
      4. The information provided in this application for Committee membership is true and accurate.

      This Agreement and all matters arising out of or relating to this Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with federal intellectual property law and the internal laws of the District of Columbia, without giving effect to any conflict of law provisions thereof, to the extent allowed by applicable law.

    • Statment of Participation Assurance.

      Provide assurance of active participation on the Committee. Will you be able to participate in the full work of the Committee such as attending Committee meetings and responding to correspondence?

  • This committee is working in cooperation with Accessibility Standards Canada (ASC). ASC requires that 30% of the committee members are identified as a person with a disability.

  • Voting is a key function of serving on a committee.  Please consider the following carefully and ensure your answers are an accurate representation of your participation on the committee(s).

    Most applicants are applying as the "principal" voter. 

    • Code development procedures do not allow alternate or non-voting status. 
    • Standards development procedures committees allow alternates for organizational representatives only.  Individuals are not allowed to have alternate voting members.

    Authorized Vote
    Are you authorized to vote on behalf of the entity you represent? (Appropriate authorization may be required.)

    Instructed Vote
    Will you have an instructed vote as determined by the entity you represent?

    Voting Time Constraints
    You indicated that you have an "instructed vote," meaning you must get guidance from your represented organization before you can vote. Can the time constraints of the consensus process be maintained?

  • Chair or Vice Chair Services

  • All councils and committees have a chair and vice-chair. These positions are critical to the success of the respective councils and committees.

    The chair is responsible for running the meetings.
    The vice-chair is responsible to step into the chair's responsibilities in the event the chair is absent.

    NOTE: Selecting "if needed" below indicates that you prefer to let others fill the role of chair or vice-chair but are willing to serve in the event no other person volunteers.

    Participation in councils and committees requires time and other potential expenses such as travel and accommodation to participate.  It is important that you have considered the potential cost impacts associated with your participation and service.
