The Table of Silence, Gate of the Kiss, and Endless Column were created between 1937 and 1938 as a memorial to those who died defending Târgu Jiu during the First World War. The project was commissioned and supported through the Women’s League of Gorj County, under the leadership of Arethia Tătărescu.
