TEQ Instructional Videos for Chinese Language Teaching

APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in the Asia Society China Learning Initiatives TEQ Video Series.

Asia Society’s TEQ Video Series has been running since 2013. This series, published on http://asiasociety.org/TEQ, illustrates innovative and effective Chinese language instruction in American K–12 classrooms. It is intended to serve as a “window into classrooms” for teachers in training and professional development to visualize how various instructional strategies are carried out in real classrooms.

Over the years, the TEQ videos have attracted many viewers, including teachers and teacher trainers in the United States and in many places in the world. They found that the TEQ videos enlightened them and encouraged them to reflect on their own teaching and search for new ideas and strategies for improvement.

If you would like to become a TEQ teacher, here is the process you need to go through:

First-round screening: TEQ candidates will be selected by Asia Society from all applications submitted.
Lesson plan revision: Selected candidates will need to contact and work individually with our master teacher and coach, Dr. Wei-ling Wu to revise their lesson plans.
Second-round screening: TEQ participants will be selected by Asia Society from among candidates based on their performance, progress, and quality of the preparation.
Preparation for filming: TEQ participants will further polish their lesson plans with Dr. Wu before scheduling a time for the filming of the lesson in the classroom.
Filming and production: Asia Society will work with participants on the details of filming.

We expect you as TEQ applicants

to be open-minded and willing to learn, explore, and grow
to take initiative and follow the program timeline
to get official approval for filming the classes and to collect the media release forms for the students who will be featured in the TEQ video
