Do you feel you have the skills and the networks in developing countries to organise and carry out training of developing country scientists, researchers, extension staff and farmers? Would you like to volunteer your time and expertise to be part of our team, building capacity for food and nutrition security?

If so, we want to hear from you!

We are using this time when COVID is limiting our usual in-country and on-the-ground training program to make a national call out for expressions of interest from Australians to be part of our training program now and into the future, to increase the skills of scientists, researchers, policy-makers, extension staff and farmers in developing countries.

We want to add to our existing network of world-class Australian scientists and researchers who are already part of our training program, with skilled people and innovative ideas for capacity building, either now during travel restrictions through online platforms, or on-the-ground following the lifting of restrictions.

The Crawford Fund’s State and Territory Programs are the linchpins of our training program which supports practical, short-term, hands-on training tailored to the needs of an individual or for a group to increase practical skills for food and nutrition security in developing countries. We have trained over 13,000 people in more than 55 countries in a diverse range of topics since commencing our work in 1987.

We strongly support training activities that provide benefits to both Australian and developing country participants. Quite often, the trainers we support and the target participants for our training are involved in Australian projects in-country, particularly with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.

We are looking for Australian specialists and institutions who have the expertise to plan and deliver short-term training to individual trainees or small groups. Once travel restrictions are lifted, the training can be either in Australia or overseas.

Please note that the Crawford Fund provides funding for the cost of the training but our trainers volunteer their time - organisational salaries or bench fees are not supported.

There is a short application process initially which will seek your ideas on what you can deliver for us.

Or you may want to discuss your idea with the Fund’s coordinator in your State. Their contact details are here.
