Experience Newquay Mentoring

As part of Cornwall Council's Experience Newquay project, Creative Kernow is leading the Creative Connections programme offering free workshops, networking and mentoring opportunities to businesses in Newquay.

We are calling out for expression of interest in our mentoring programme, specifically tailored for:

Pre-Start-Ups: People who would like to start a new business based in Newquay;
Step-Changers: Businesses who would like to do something new - designing/launching a new product, a new service or moving towards a new direction.

There are 6 places on each of the two cohorts, and you will receive up to 4 one-to-one sessions with an exprienced business advisor and mentor, as well as tailored group learning opportunities throughout the early summer and autumn of 2024.

For Step-Changers, we expect any new products or services to be launched before Feburary 2025 - check-in sessions with your mentor will be available if required.

About The Mentors

Dr Tonia Lu - Lead Mentor
Tonia is the Director of Creative Enterprise at Creative Kernow, and has previously been a business advisor on the Creative Kernow Cultivator Programme. Over the last 7 years, she has worked with over 200 businesses including 28 new start-ups, and helped 32 businesses bring new products and services to market.

Tonia is passionate about helping entrepreneurs sustain and grow their businesses while staying focused on their vision. Her specialism lies in vision/brand development & review, business planning, financial management, financial planning and pricing, operational development and business analysis - which she believes are important for all businesses big and small. She has a particular interest in the social impact of enterprises and believes good businesses should be good for communities.

Bethany Lyne
Bethany is the Cornwall 365 Director, a programme developing Cornwall as a year-round, sustainable creative destination. Bethany has worked across many place-shaping projects, including the Tin Coast, Tresorys Kernow, and EXPERIENCE projects, all of which encompassed skill sessions and networking activity.

Bethany regularly runs training, coaching and mentoring session specialising on the subjects of fundraising, marketing and communication.
