    When completing this application form, select the appropriate scholarship(s). Note: To be considered for each individual scholarship, you must meet the required eligibility criteria for each scholarship you select (see requirements below). In addition to filling out this form you must also, submit (upload) the appropriate required documentation by the deadline (February 1st) to be considered.

     

    If you do not meet the selected scholarship(s) required eligibility criteria; you are missing required documentation; or you submit an incomplete application, your application will be automatically disqualified.

    • Alfred Davis Legacy Scholarship Requirements & Criteria 
    • Required Eligibility Criteria:

      • United States Citizen
      • Resident of the U.S.A. (50 states or District of Columbia)
      • Currently, a high school senior or college student between the ages of 17-25 years old at the time of this application
      • Earned a cumulative 2.00 G.P.A or better on a 4.00 scale or 2.75 G.P.A on a 5.00 scale
      • Accepted into a two- or four-year college or university in the U.S.A (50 States or District of Columbia)
      • Enroll as a freshman and attend a two- or four-year college or university in the U.S.A (50 States or District of Columbia) for the Fall 2026 semester
      • You are NOT an immediate family member of the Alfred Davis Family; donor or sponsor of Alfred Davis Legacy Scholarship; DACS Services L3C scholarship committee members; or DACS Services L3C employee. (see FAQ on Website for more)

       

      Required Application Documentation

      • Copy of the acceptance letter or transcripts from the educational institution the applicant plans to attend in the Fall 2026

      • An official transcript with most current cumulative G.P.A

      • Essay Requirements: Please type a one- to three-page essay (Time New Roman, 12-point font, 250-750 word count, double spaced).

      • Essay Prompt Background: In 1978, Alfred Davis became one of the few African Americans to graduate from Oakland University with an engineering degree, overcoming countless challenges along the way. Known for his determination and belief in others, he inspired those around him to keep pushing forward. When his nephew struggled financially in college, Alfred stepped in, saying, “You are now my investment.” With this powerful support, his nephew found the motivation to persevere, tackling every obstacle head-on.

         

      • Essay Prompt: In a personal statement, please share an experience in which you overcame significant barriers, whether related to bias, financial, physical, mental, or other obstacles. How did this experience influence your personal growth and your perspective on resilience? Additionally, how do you plan to support others who may face similar challenges while pursuing their education in college? Please be specific in outlining your past challenges and future commitments.

      Scholarship Conditions

      • DACS Services L3C Challenge Category Scholarship(s) may be used to cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, room and board, computers, health insurance, study abroad and other school related expenses. DACS Services L3C Challenge Category Scholarship(s) may not be used to cover non-education related expenses.

      • Scholarship winner will be notified by April 30th and distributed by May 30th in the name of the recipient and Trade-School/College the recipient (winner) listed on the application. The scholarship recipient’s (winner’s) name, photo (submitted with the application), and other information will be posted on the DACS Services L3C website and social media platforms no later than June 30th.

      • DACS Services L3C requires all scholarship winners email a "Thank You" video or audio recording to info@DACSL3C.com no later than June 30th. Your thank you correspondence will be shared with sponsors and on DACS Services L3C media platforms.

    • Required Eligibility Criteria:

      • United States Citizen
      • Resident of the U.S.A. (50 states or District of Columbia)
      • Preference will be given to applicants who are or have been in the foster care system or adopted. 
      • Currently, a high school senior, trade school student, or college student between the ages of 17-25 years old at the time of this application
      • Earned a cumulative 2.00 G.P.A or better on a 4.00 scale or 2.75 G.P.A or better on a 5.00 scale
      • Accepted into a licensed trade school; accredited vocational school; or two- or four-year college or university in the U.S.A (50 States or District of Columbia)
      • Will be enrolled into a licensed trade school; accredited vocational school; or two- or four-year college or university in the U.S.A (50 States or District of Columbia) for the Fall 2026 semester
      • You are NOT an immediate family member of the Dorothy and Stephon Vaughn Family; donor or sponsor of Stephon Vaughn Scholarship; DACS Services L3C scholarship committee members; or DACS Services L3C employee. (see FAQ on Website for more)

Though he couldn’t read or write, he used his God-given gifts to build a thriving poultry and pig farm. In the community he was known for gifting others eggs and meat from his farm, especially during the holidays, Mr. Neal turned his success into service. His life reminds us that true greatness isn’t measured by wealth, but by how much you give and how deeply you care.
