Thank you for applying for the Dan and Lisabeth Kaplan Memorial Scholarship. We're excited for the opportunity to support students in their goals for higher education, in memory of our brother and sister. Both Dan and Lisabeth dedicated much of their lives to helping others, so it is especially meaningful for us to continue their legacy by supporting you in your educational journey.
This scholarship is intended for: San Francisco Bay Area high school seniors OR community college students transferring to a 4 year college this upcoming academic year, who have faced challenges and persevered in the wake of this adversity, who can demonstrate financial need, who plan to pursue studies in Liberal Arts (i.e. Non-STEM majors such as Humanities, Education, Psychology and other majors in Arts and Letters), who plan to attend a California Public University.
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Up to $5000.00 (Highest amount awarded will be 5000.00, amounts may be lower)
Open for submissions: JAN 2, 2025; Deadline for submissions: March 31, 2025
We are now closed for 2025 and unable to review late submissions.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently a High School Senior OR Community College student transferring to a 4 year college this coming academic year
- Currently a resident and attending school in the San Francisco Bay Area
- Will be attending a Public California University in the Fall
- Pursing a major/field in Liberal Arts. E.g. Humanities, Education, Psychology and other majors in Arts and Letters. (Hard sciences/STEM such as Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics are INelegible as this is not the mission of this particular scholarship.)
- Minumum GPA 3.0 Unweighted
- Demonstrated Financial Need
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (counselor or teacher) at your current school
Prior to dispursement, awarded recipients will be expected to provide to SVCF (Silicon Valley Community Foundation):
- Verification of acceptance at their university
- Verification of enrollment
- Verification of financial need (if not already submitted)
At time of dispursement, funds are sent directly to colleges. SVCF communicates with colleges regarding procedures for deposit.
