About Poll Workers
Poll workers are paid election officials who staff local polling places to carry out assigned Election Day procedures. Their work begins before the election – as each worker is required to undergo training to carry out these tasks. Election workers are essential to the democratic process and ensure that the rights of each and every eligible voter are protected. There are approximately 1,980 polling places across the State of Alabama.

Poll Worker Requirements
• Must be a registered voter in the State of Alabama.
• Must be registered to vote in the county in which they desire to act as a poll worker.
• Each poll worker must attend a mandatory poll worker training. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
• Cannot be a member of a candidate’s immediate family or the second degree of kinship, and cannot be a member of a candidate’s political committee.

In-Person Training - Please read before answering the following questions:
Classes will be held on October 27, 2026 for the upcoming November 3rd General Election. There will be a make-up class offered at a later date (TBA), but space will be limited.
As a Poll Worker, you are required to attend in-person training. There will be classes offered at different times and locations. Are you willing and able to attend in-person training?
As a Poll Inspector, you are required to attend in-person training for Inspectors in addition to in-person training for Workers. Are you willing and able to attend BOTH in-person training sessions?
Each political party chairman provides a list of recommended Inspectors and Clerks for each election. For this purpose, what is your political party affiliation?
Poll Workers and Inspectors are expected to report to their assigned location as early as 6:00 am and remain there until after the polls close, sometimes as late as 8:00 pm or after. Your shift may include long periods of time standing or sitting. You may also be asked to lift up to 15 pounds. Please choose the answer that best fits:
