ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Decidedly Different Events (MWBE), is a full-service event production company in New York City. Via our creative arm, we produce and manage high caliber art programs in NYC public schools.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Decidedly Different Events is seeking an Assistant Program Director for an arts-based after school program for the 2025-2026 school year in Queens, New York. The Assistant Program Director will report to and work closely with the Program Director at location site. General responsibilities include overall assistance with program management.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend program daily, Monday through Friday. Must be on school site during program hours, approximately 2:30pm-6pm (M, T, Th, F) / 12pm-4pm (W)
- Act as a liaison between parents/guardians of program participants, DDE staff, and host school
- Assist in the management DDE communications to parents via email, phone, and app-based services (Bloomz)
- Assist in the management of participant enrollment / registration processes and associated waitlists
- Oversee daily coordination of program start and dismissal procedures
- Draft incident reports and provide program highlights or concerns upon request
- Distribute snacks to program participants
- Escort program participants from the program floor to designated dismissal areas
- Assist in general program dismissal
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
We’re looking for a candidate with real-world professional work experience, which doesn’t always equate to an undergraduate degree. Yes, we have preferences (which are listed below) but we will also strongly consider candidates with field experience. Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in a school, after school, day camp or community youth outreach setting
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school staff, program staff, and parents
- Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation
- Proficient in basic computer software, including but not limited to MS Office, app-based programs, e.g., ClassDojo and virtual meeting platforms e.g., Google Meet
- Candidates with an affinity for children!
Position Requirements:
- Must be U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a background check
Preferences:
- Undergraduate degree (or working towards completion)
- Fingerprinted with the Department of Education (DOE)
- CPR Certified
- Bilingual; Spanish
SALARY
This is a long term, part-time contract / freelance position (1099). Pay rate is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, with a minimum of 18 hours per week (maximum of 20). Possible expansion to a full-time salaried position as the program grows.
