Each year, several Greensboro Bar Association members are recognized for exemplary service to the community, for outstanding pro bono service, and for demonstrating a deep devotion and constant commitment to the practice of law, to the administration of justice and to the highest ethical standards of professionalism.
Pro Bono Award
The Pro Bono Award, established in 1996, recognizes outstanding pro bono service. Nominations for the Pro Bono Award must be submitted on or before November 11, 2024.
Centennial Award
The North Carolina Bar Association co-sponsors the Centennial Award with the GBA to recognize outstanding and exemplary community service. Nominations for the Centennial Award must be submitted on or before December 6, 2024.
Distinguished Service Award
Established in 1993, the Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor bestowed on a GBA member. It recognizes deep devotion and constant commitment to the law, the administration of justice, the highest ethical principles, and public service. Nominations for the Distinguished Service Award must be submitted no later than February 1, 2025.
Outstanding Young Lawyer Award
The Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, established in 2024, is bestowed upon an attorney with fewer than 10 years of law practice experience. The attorney must be a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar and an active member of both the Greensboro Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Section. The awardee exhibits professional excellence, service to the profession and the bar, service to the community, and a reputation for advancing legal ethicx, personal professionalism, and professional responsibility. Nominations for the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award must be submitted no later than January 5, 2024.
