  • The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with a family business to provide the community with wholesome and nutritious food. This is a great opportunity for someone to work as part of a team while gaining kitchen and customer service experience. This is also a great opportunity for someone with a little more experience that is ready to get out of the nightly, kitchen grind.

    Schedule:

    Part-time year-round position (24-32 hours per week with Saturday availability)

    Job Responsibilities include:

    • Working closely as a team so we all benefit from a friendly, hard-working and family-like environment.
    • Measuring, preparing and assembling ingredients: including washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables, cutting and seasoning meats, and mixing ingredients for dishes.
    • Following recipes and using a variety of tools and equipment.
    • Maintaining accurate food inventories and restocking items as needed 
    • Following all company policies for labeling, coding, packaging, rotating, and storing of food products.
    • Dishwashing, cleaning kitchen tools and equipment, helping maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen.
    • Packing wholesale orders from our walk-in freezer, with a strong attention to detail.
    • Working with additional Diemand Farm staff to help complete tasks for the prepared foods program as needed.
    • Customer service and cash handling duties
    • Additional duties, to be assigned as necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to work well both independently and in a team
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
    • Ability to work for extended periods without oversight
    • Personable with good communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time

    Preferences:

    • Experience working in a professional kitchen or food service setting
    • Value for local agriculture
    • ServSafe and Allergen Awareness certification a plus

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Hourly rate commensurate with experience

  • Criteria and Expectations:

    • Employees must be at least 15 years of age.
    • Kitchen work can be physically demanding. Employees are expected to be physically fit and able.
    • Duties may include lifting up to 50 pounds and being on your feet for long periods of time.
    • Demonstrating some proficiency in reading and understanding English.
    • Punctuality and good communication are vital to ensure work is started and completed by the team.
    • Preference for employees to have some familiarity with food service.
    • Must be available to work some Saturdays.
