PREPARING YOUR SONGS FOR MIXING
*****Read Carefully!!!*****
There are a few essential things you must do to prepare your song for professional online mixing
1. Bounce your existing song to a stereo mp3 file (like you would to burn it to cd or to listen on an mp3 player) This is what we call your "rough mix". This will be used as a reference so we know roughly what you’re looking for.
2. Turn off ALL plugins and effects (compression, limiting, delays, reverb, etc.) for each sound in your song. We will mix to taste with the exception of specific requests for individual tracks.
3. Make sure each sound in your song is properly labeled (snare, kick, hi hat, bass-line synth, etc.) This means, if you have twenty instrumental tracks and five vocal tracks, we should receive twenty five tracks properly labeled.
4.No excuses no exceptions. Lead vocal, ad-lib and doubles should all be labeled accordingly! The way that you see your session is how we'd like to pull it up for speed and efficiency.
5. Make sure that no tracks are clipping after removing plugins/effects. Please note songs that go over -5db will not be accepted. There needs to be enough 'headroom' in order for us to process your recording for maximum sonic clarity. Tracks that are clipping or are too loud cannot not be used and we will request a re-recorded version in order to move forward in the mixing process.
6. Export (bounce) each sound as it’s own audio file, starting at zero. Make sure you export each sound as a .wav file in the same quality it was recorded(24 bit/44.1khz, 16bit/44.1khz, etc.). Choose a destination for your exports in a new empty folder that you will easily be able to locate.
7. Create a .zip or .rar file of your exported sounds or DAW session folder (videos below).
PLEASE SEND US YOUR SESSION FILE INCLUDING THE AUDIO FOLDER
