Visit preferences
Due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic, group sizes will be limited to 15 students until the end of 2021. From January 2022 we hope to be able to increase group sizes to 30 students, circumstances allowing. If you are requesting more than one visit, please complete a new form for each visit. Please note we do not accept university groups.

BRAF: From gene to cancer therapy - Students interpret real cancer DNA datasets to identify sites of mutation in the BRAF gene and identify the significance of the BRAF V600E mutation in malignant melanoma. (Ideal for post-16)
MRSA gene hunt - Students explore genomes of two Staphylococcus aureus bacteria strains to highlight the role of different genetic components in antibiotic resistance in one of the strains. (Ideal for 14 – 18 years)
Function Finders BLAST - Students translate DNA sequence into protein sequence and search the UNIPROT database to find out what the protein is and what it does. (Ideal for 14- 18 years)
Genome Generation - Students discuss a scenario around the impact of Genome Sequencing and its potential societal consequences. (Ideal for 14 – 18 years)
Construct a bug - Students follow DNA clues to discover what genes an unknown bacterial sample contains and how that bacteria is adapted to its host or environment. (Ideal for 11 - 18 year)
