You qualify for a rebate if:

The candidate you donated to signed up for the City of Markham's candidate contribution rebate program.
You haven't donated more than $1,200 to any single candidate, or more than $5,000 to multiple candidates running for Markham City Council in the same election.
You are a Markham voter or Permanent Resident of Canada residing in Markham

You can claim one 75% rebate (up to $150) based on the sum total of all eligible donations you make to one or more participating candidates in the same election.

Rebates will be mailed by cheque to the donor's mailing address starting in September 2026. Donations to Markham City Council candidates are not income- or property-tax deductible.
