Team Harmony has partnered with the internationally recognized communications college, Emerson College and college partners, to create and conduct the Team Harmony Virtual Institute for Activism (VIA). The goal of this innovative Virtual Institute is to provide young people with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to be an effective advocate and activist for social and racial justice.
This Virtual Institute will be taught by established and recognized Emerson College professors and will also feature presentations from prominent community organizers and advocates focusing on the skills, tactics and tools required to peacefully advocate for equality and understanding for all.
Applicants must be 14-20 years and provide a reference from an educator or community leader when completing their application. The Institute will offer 10 select courses, each 60-minutes in length.
Enrollment for the first year of the Institute will be capped at 200 students from around the world. The accepted 200 students will be placed into 10 groups or “cohorts” of 20 students each, and each “cohort” will be tasked to develop, organize and implement an activity designed to foster bridge building and dialogue between diverse groups and to advocate for peace and justice for all. Students will have to make an official presentation of their Action Plan at the conclusion of the Institute and their presentation will be reviewed and judged by a panel of community activists and issue experts. The prestigious Team Harmony Award will be presented to the top three Action Plans. All Institute participants will be presented with The Team Harmony Virtual Institute for Activism (VIA) Certificate at the conclusion of the Institute.
The Team Harmony Virtual Institute for Activism is free of charge. If selected you will be participating in virtual courses over 12 weeks. The Team Harmony Virtual Institute for Activism starts on Saturday, January 23, 2021 and enrollment opens Fall 2020.
