  • The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) has received a five year award for the State Maternal Health Innovation grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). In partnership with the Albuquerque Area Southwest Tribal Epidemiology Center, DOH is inviting you to co-create a task force and develop a strategic plan to improve maternal wellness in New Mexico. Grant requirements include formation of a task force, completion of needs assessments (or review/compilation of existing assessments) and strategic action planning. Findings from the state maternal mortality review committee and multiple maternal health data sources will be used to inform strategic planning. Local, community-based knowledge and leadership will shape the task force and its strategic planning. Shared agreements and priority areas will be defined together with your participation.

     

  • Why should New Mexico have a Maternal Health Task Force?

  • New Mexico deserves an open space to consider and act upon the needs and knowledge of all maternal and perinatal populations.

    New Mexico should have an inclusive body, supported by funding, to enable transparent, representative and accountable decision making.

    New Mexico families should have a place to bring their concerns and ideas about the policies and programs that impact them.

    Clinical and non-clinical experts, those with lived experience expertise, and those impacted by maternal health policies need a shared place to strategize and bring awareness across all sectors.
