Certified Healthcare Engineer (CHE) Program
The Certified Healthcare Engineer (CHE) certification program was developed by the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (FHEA) in 1979 and officially launched in 1980. The program provides objective, structured guidance for FHEA members seeking to excel in healthcare facility engineering and management.
The CHE application uses a point-based system that evaluates professional experience, education, and related activities. Applicants must substantiate all claimed points, demonstrating integrity, proficiency, and professionalism. The CHE designation recognizes individuals who are respected by their peers and valued by the healthcare industry as highly qualified professionals.
Eligibility and Renewal Requirements
Certification is available to FHEA healthcare facility professional members who meet established standards for proficiency, professional development, and continuing education.
Applicants may earn points through multiple qualifying activities; however, one requirement has no substitution:

Certification is valid for the calendar year of application and must be renewed annually.
