    We encourage you to review the five award category descriptions and submit a brief nomination (up to two pages) for any candidates you would like to be considered. This document should be attached below. The focus of the awards is to recognize outstanding organizations and individuals who support adult basic education, literacy, ESOL, and/or family literacy in Florida.

    Here are a few questions to consider when writing your nominations.

    1. Flight for Freedom Award (Adult Learner)

    • How has the adult learner demonstrated growth, perseverance, or leadership in pursuing their education?

    • What impact (if any) has this learner’s success had on others in their program or community?

    2. Excellence in Education Award (Organization)

    • How has the organization shown innovation or excellence in delivering adult education and literacy programs?

    • What partnerships, programs, or outcomes best reflect the organization’s impact?

    3. Mary J. Brogan Leadership Award (Individual)

    • In what ways has the nominee demonstrated leadership, creativity, or advocacy in adult education and literacy efforts?

    • How has this person’s leadership inspired others or strengthened local or state adult education and literacy efforts?

    4. Outstanding Literacy Volunteer Award (Individual)

    • How has the nominee’s commitment and service advanced adult education and literacy at the program or community level?

    • In what ways has the nominee’s volunteer work made a meaningful difference for learners?

    5. Outstanding Community Partner Award (Organization)

    • How has the nominee partnered to contribute resources or expertise that have benefited adult education and literacy programs and learners?

    • What impact has their support had on adult education and literacy efforts?
