  • Football NSW is providing scholarship opportunities for female match officials to upgrade their qualifications.

    • Referee Upgrade Scholarship - Inclusions & Eligibility 

    • If you're an existing referee and looking to upgrade to a Senior Football Match Official (Level 3), this scholarship will cover the cost of your online modules involved as part of the course.

      Successful applicants will be provided a discount code they can use to complete the Football Australia online modules. 

      After completing the online modules, you will still be required to attend a practical session via your local branch. Please contact your local branch upon completion of your theory to discuss your practical.

      Eligibility criteria:

      • Open for all individuals who identify as a woman or non-binary
      • Must be based in NSW and registered in PlayFootball with a FNSW recognised referee branch for 2025
      • Must already hold an active Junior Football Match Official (Level 4 Referee) qualification
      • Must be 16 years old at the age of undertaking the Senior Football Match Official (Level 3 Referee) course

      • When will I know if I have recieved a scholarship?

      Expressions of interest will be reviewed and you wil receive an email within a week.

      • What happens once I recieve a scholarship? 

      If you are successful you will get an email notification. From there, you will need to login to the online learning system (https://learn.footballaustralia.com.au/training/index.cfm?event=page.login) and use the discount code to enrol in the Senior Football Match Official (Level 3 Referee) modules. A guide on how to do this will be emailed to you.

      The modules can be completed in your own time, online, at your own pace. Once you have completed the theory modules please contact your local branch to discuss finalising your Level 3 qualification.

      • Is there a time limit to completing the course?

      No, the theory modules are self paced and online so you complete them when it's suitable for you.

      • What is the practical part of the course? Is this covered by the scholarship?

      The practical component of your Senior Football Match Official (Level 3 Referee) course is faciliated by your local branch. Once you have completed your theory please contact them directly to discuss when you can complete this. 

      The scholarship does not cover an associated costs with completing the practical via your branch.
