    Our Membership Program:

To be a member of the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club, you must reside within the Philadelphia city limits. We offer two types of Memberships, renewed yearly:

General  Membership: As a General Member, you'll get to hang out at the club, join us for fun community events, and soak up the amazing horse-loving vibes. While riding the horses is exclusively for active members,  think of it as your warm-up lap. Show us your dedication and passion, and you could be saddling up as an Active Member in no time!

General members will not have access to exclusive club events such as camping trips or other outings reserved for active members, but you can upgrade to active membership by fulfilling membership requirements.  General members are still required to follow the FSURC rules and safety protocols.

After two months as a General Member, youth can qualify as an Active member by completing the Tier Based responsibilities listed below:

Active Membership (Cardholder): Active members get to participate our work to ride program, participate in club events, camping trips, outings, and have priority enrollment in classes and programs. Active members are required to fulfill specific responsibilities based on their age tier:

    Age-Based Responsibilities (Active Members Only)

Tier 1: Ages 13+: Members in this tier are expected to commit at least one day per week to barn chores, including grooming, stall cleaning, tacking, and general horse care.

Tier 2: Ages 8-13: Members in this tier are  responsible for mucking stalls, cleaning rabbit cages, and feeding the ducks and chickens.

Tier 3: Ages 7 and Under: Younger members are encouraged to participate in club activities and learn about animal care.

All youth members must submit quarterly report cards via email to info@fsurc.com.

    Work to Ride Responsibilities:

Participation in Barn Chores: All members are required to participate in daily barn chores, including but not limited to mucking stalls, feeding, watering, grooming, and general barn maintenance.

Riding Privileges: Riding is a privilege earned through consistent dedication to horse care and barn responsibilities. Members must demonstrate proficiency in horse handling and stable management before advancing to riding.

Scheduled Shifts: Members will be assigned specific shifts for barn chores to ensure equitable distribution of responsibilities.

Attendance: Regular attendance and participation in barn chores are essential for maintaining membership. Excessive absences may result in restrictions on riding privileges.

  • Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club operates as a community-based equestrian program. All horses residing at the facility are owned and maintained by the club. We do not offer boarding services for privately owned horses.

While we want you to form a bond with your horse, no member can claim "ownership" of any horse or prevent others from riding a horse that may be their favorite. Our philosophy centers on shared access and equitable opportunities for all members. Any Active member in good standing is eligible to ride any available horse, subject to skill level and horse availability.

This policy ensures fairness and prevents conflicts among members. It also allows for a more dynamic learning experience as riders are exposed to various horse personalities and riding styles.
