APPLICATION PROCESS
After you submit this form, the Node (Fab Lab) you selected will review your profile, interview you and send us feedback on the status of your application. 

If the Node (Fab Lab) approves your application, Central Coordination will send you an Acceptance Letter with payment instructions.

You must secure 70% of the Fab Academy fees before the program starts in January.

 

TUITION FEES
Standard Tuition fee for the year 2026 is 5,000 USD (Euros might apply in some European Labs). 

BUT, according to their local cost calculations, some Fab Labs may charge more than 5,000 USD or less. Please inform yourself about the specific fees of your selected Fab Lab.

PAYMENTS
In every case, the selected candidates must pay 2.000 USD (or equivalent if there is a scholarship) to confirm participation, maximum 2 weeks after their acceptance.

The remaining part of the tuition fees (e.g 3.000 USD) might be paid in either one or two installments, 50% (e.g 1.500 USD), before mid-January and 50% (e.g 1.500 USD) before  mid-March.

All payments must be done via FLYWIRE, a secure payment platform we use to collect fees. Payment Instructions will be attached to your Acceptance letter.

If your University or other Institution is paying for you, it is your responsibility to make the arrangements with them to fulfill the deadlines.

 

COPYRIGHT LICENSES
The default license for student's work will be under Creative Commons:   Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) 

Students interested in researching further can change their licensing if expressly mentioned.

Note: Pictures and videos uploaded by the students in the course of Fab Academy may be used by the organization for academic, pedagogic or promotional purposes, with due accreditation.

You are applying to the FAB ACADEMY DIPLOMA, a complete program of 20 Certificates.

The Program is run by Prof. Neil Gershenfeld and a group of globally renowned Faculty and Instructors.

It runs from Mid-January to mid-June, every year; and the evaluation period takes place in July. During the evaluation period you may need to be active, so plan accordingly.

To take Fab Academy you must select one physical Fab Lab in which you will fabricate your assignments.

The list is organized alphabetically by Continent, Country and Lab.

Fab Academy course is taught in English, and your work must be documented in English as well. We will not ask you to provide proof of language proficiency, but we expect a high level of oral and written English.

2) the student agreement:

• Attending class lectures and participating in reviews
• Developing and documenting projects assigned to introduce and demonstrate skills, in enough detail to be able to reproduce them
• Honestly reporting on my work, and appropriately attributing the work of others (both human and machine, including AI prompts)
• Being prepared to answer questions about my work
  Allowing the Fab Academy to share my work (with attribution) in the class for purposes compatible with its mission
• Working safely
• Leaving workspaces in the same (or better) condition than I found them
• Participating in the upkeep of my lab
• Ensuring that my tuition for local and central class costs is covered
• Following locally applicable health and safety guidance
• Recognizing limits on lab and staff time
• Promoting a respectful environment free of harassment and discrimination

You will be asked to "sign" this Agreement by committing this file to the Lab repository.
