At Where Faeries Live, we love highlighting local magical talent! We regularly have folks approach us about consignment in the store, but there's only so much space.
If you've been with us a long time, you may remember when we had an Artist of the Month in-store. It was a great way to support local small businesses and introduce our friends to wonderful new magical tools, accessories, and gifts. So we're bringing something like it back...the WFL Featured Artist!
How It Works:
Each artist will have their products sold in WFL on consignment for four weeks. And on the final day of their four weeks, the artist will have their very own trunk show in Pink's Parlor! (Unsure what a trunk show is? Think of it like a vendor market...except you're the only vendor, and it's all about you and your art!)
WFL Advertising:
- Prominent displays: All consignment items will be displayed either in one of the glass cabinets at our till, or on one of the tables at the front of the store that everyone sees when they first walk in. (The exact display location will depend on the type(s) of products the artists consigns with us.)
- Event advertising: We'll treat the trunk show just like any other WFL event, including:
- a Facebook Event (and scheduling posts within the event over the four weeks); if the artist has a Facebook page, they will be added as a co-host and are welcome to make their own posts within the event
- an Eventbrite listing with free Send Me a Reminder tickets for the trunk show
- adding the trunk show to our event bag-stuffer that we distribute in-store
- adding the event to our event round-ups sent out to our newsletter subscribers
- Posters in-store: We will make posters that highlight the artist and include information about their trunk show. Posters will be included in displays of their items, as well as hung in our alcove were we hang posters about other upcoming events
- Bag-stuffer: We'll make a flyer specific for the trunk show that we'll have out with the displayed items and that we'll hand out to WFL customers leading up to the event
- Artist business cards/QR codes/etc: Featured Artists should provide us with a stash of their business cards, or a small flyer with a QR code to their links, or whatever other method they use to get their name out there at markets and other events. We'll include these with the displays. Any business cards leftover will either be returned to the artist or added to our community board, at the artist's discretion.
- Newsletter blast: Two or three days before the Featured Artist's four weeks begin, we'll send out a newsletter to our subscribers specifically highlighting the artist, including product photos, information about the trunk show, and the artist's contact links, just to get everyone hyped!
Cost:
WFL offers consignment on a 60/40. The artist gets 60% of the sale of any items sold in the store during their four weeks, and the store keeps 40%. (Except during the trunk show. The artist will process all their own sales that day, and WFL doesn't take any portion.) We won't charge you for having Pink's Parlor for the day, or any of the other advertising that we'll do. That's just a perk of the Feature Artist program. (That also means there are no up-front costs to being a WFL Featured Artist!)
If you're interested, please apply below! And please be patient with us...we won't be lining up every artist for the next year all at once. If we don't feel your products will fit our store at all, we will contact you right away to tell you so. Which means if you don't hear from us right away, you're still on The List.
We will first be looking for artists to feature for:
- March 8th to April 4th (trunk show on April 4th)
- April 12th to May 9th (trunk show on May 9th)
But please feel free to select all the dates you're available for!
Who are we?
Where Faeries Live has been a staple in the Edmonton and area pagan community since it opened in 1997. We're proud to carry a wide range of books, decks, altar tools, agical home decor, incense, essential oils, candles, herbs, crystals, and other spell components for practitioners of various paths. We have event spaces, including Pink's Parlor, where folks can teach classes or hold other events for the community or private groups. WFL has featured consignment items from local creators since at least 2000 (that's when the current owner, Deb, started consigning at the store, but she's not sure when the consignment program actually started.) Our community always loves finding local treasures in our store, alongside their usual magical supplies.
