Description of the webinar: : The objective of this webinar is to identify mechanisms of financing awareness raising programmes for tobacco control and to provide examples on how to obtain and structure such mechanisms. Education, communication and public awareness programmes required under Article 12 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) should be an integral part of comprehensive tobacco control strategies, plans and programmes.

The invited speakers will present examples of: taxation of tobacco products and utilization of tobacco taxation for funding public health programmes; governance mechanisms for the existing funds; and techniques of advocacy to target decision-makers to get funds for awareness raising programmes.
