  • Junior Board Application Form

  • Freshwater Land Trust’s (FLT) Junior Board supports the work and mission of FLT: to conserve and care for environmentally-significant land throughout Central Alabama, and to connect the Red Rock Trail System® (RRTS) throughout Jefferson County.

    In the simplest terms, FLT conserves land and builds trails so our community is happier and healthier. To date, FLT has conserved over 12,000 acres of land across 14 counties and connected 160 miles of trails, parks, bike lanes, and sidewalks throughout Jefferson County in the Red Rock Trail System.

    FLT Junior Board members can be between the ages of 21-40. Terms may be renewed for up to five years.

  • FLT Jr. Board Commitment

  • Junior Board members commit to several conditions of participation and service as a member of the FLT Junior Board for each year of membership. If you are approved and invited to join the Junior Board, please initial and sign that you would agree to these requirements.

    If you are unable to fulfill these commitments by the fourth quarter Junior Board meeting, be aware that you will be subject to a fee and/or removal from the Junior Board at that time. The Junior Board Executive Committee will keep track of membership requirements and assess fulfillment in the last quarter of the year.

  • *   Participate in quarterly Junior Board meetings. These are held at 5:30 P.M. on a midweek evening. Dates are determined by the Executive Committee and are announced at the Junior Board Orientation in January.
    *   Submit $100 membership dues by February 27, 2026.
    *   Make at least two documented asks for sponsorship of an FLT fundraising event. The 2026 event will be determined later this year.
    *   Complete a minimum of three hours of service work during the
    year. These hours can be obtained by attending an FLT service event, serving as a Trail Steward in FLT's Adopt-A-Trail program, and potentially other opportunities.
