If you are considering driveway replacement or widening/narrowing:

If you are considering driveway replacement or modifications in 2026, it is optimal if this work is completed prior to the beginning of street construction. Residents are asked to obtain contractor quotes by spring 2026 and notify City project staff of any planned driveway construction in the upcoming street project area. Driveway replacements will not be completed as part of the City’s street construction.

If you have an irrigation system or pet fence located behind the curb:

Construction may impact your irrigation system or pet fence if located near the curb. If you have an irrigation system or pet fence on your property, please let us know by responding to the questionnaire. We also ask that as the project starts, you mark your irrigation system and/or pet fence with flags so that the risk of damage can be minimized.

  • Water or sanitary sewer service repair and replacement

Property owners in Fridley are responsible for maintenance of service pipes for water and sanitary sewer from their building to the main. These pipes can be under the street and cost several thousand dollars to replace. Consider whether you should have your service replaced in advance of the project to save the cost of restoring the street. Decide whether you want to have work done and obtain contractor quotes by spring 2026. If you proceed with this work, we recommend that you contact us prior to the project starting to coordinate work with you. The City of Fridley provides a free televising inspection of your sanitary sewer service in project areas.

The inspection takes 30-60 minutes, and would be scheduled on a weekday between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. A camera is inserted into the line in your home and pushed out to the main. Please ensure the sewer service cleanout in your home is accessible and can be opened prior to your appointment.

  • If you have additional project related questions or comments, please contact the Fridley Engineering Department at 763-572-3554 or Web-StreetProjects@fridleymn.gov to discuss. THANK YOU!
