The City of Grapevine is committed to serving the diverse needs of its citizens. At times, that leads to lending a helping hand to those who need financial assistance to participate in recreational programs. The HERO (Helping Everyone Enjoy Recreational Opportunities) Program enables citizens of all ages, who have financial need, to participate in city operated recreation programs at little to no cost. Simply review the qualifications, submit the appropriate information and we will contact you in regards to your submission.
Qualifications:
- Proof of Grapevine residency. A current driver's license or photo ID with a current utility bill will be accepted.
- The applicant must meet established financial criteria to qualify for full or partial assistance. The amount of assistance received is based on a sliding scale.
- Documentation of need must include one of the following:
- GCISD letter that states the applicant receives free or reduced priced meals at school.
- Letter of qualifications from GRACE.
- May qualify as an individual or family. A family is defined as:
- Legally married couple as recognized by a court of law.
- Parents and/or children who may be claimed as dependents for tax purposes.
- Children and their legal guardian.
- Funds may be used for approved city-operated recreational programs and annual memberships.
- Funds will NOT be granted for:
- Additional program supplies as required for the program
- Facility reservations
- Special events
- Daily admission fees to seasonal facilities
- Adult and/or Youth league charging a "Team Fee" to register
- Childwatch
- Participants are required to furnish their own transportation to and from programs.
- Participants must participate in the chosen program on a regular basis to maintain eligibility in the assistance program.
- Qualifications are subject to review on an annual basis or as needed to determine existing need.
- The City of Grapevine reserves the right to limit the amount of assistance awarded based on overall response to the program.
- A maximum of $1,000 will be allocated per household per school year (September - August).
