Travel Chaperone Application

Thank you for your interest in being a Travel Chaperone!

GSOFCT Travel Chaperones are responsible for our Girl Scouts' safety and supervision, as well as ensuring all Girl Scouts are included and have a positive experience while planning for and during the trip.

Travel Chaperones work with GSOFCT staff in planning and leading trips with Girl Scouts that may be a day or an overnight experience of one or more nights. Trips may be domestic or international. Some travel involves outdoor experiences like hiking, tent camping, or zip lining. Travel Chaperones are expected to attend and take part in leading all virtual pre-trip information sessions and in-person meetings.

All interested adults with current GSUSA membership are encouraged to apply. We work with applicants to find an opportunity to volunteer that pairs your interests and skills with our Girl Scout - led travel opportunities.

What specific experiences have you had that would make you the best candidate to be a travel chaperone on the trip you have selected? For example, if the trip is to Our Chalet in Switzerland, have you had experience travelling in Switzerland or have you been to Our Chalet? Do you have other international travel experience?

Travel chaperones will work to support our Girl Scouts before and during the trip. During the trip, days are long, logistics change, Girl Scouts may require special assistance, some may have never travelled before, or other needs may arise. What are some things you would want to do in planning for the trip to ensure that Girl Scouts are as prepared as they can be for this trip?

Tell us about your experience with travel with Girl Scouts - troop, group, getaways, destinations, or other. What have you experienced that will make you the right support person for this trip?

Some local trips involve driving Girl Scouts in a rental 12-15 passenger vehicle. What experience(s) do you have that would demonstrate your ability to drive Girl Scouts in a larger vehicle?
