  • Come volunteer with us!!!

The Galesburg Civic Art Center relies on you, our dedicated and hard-working volunteers, to assist with our exhibitions, programming and community events. There are a number of ways in which the Art Center depends on volunteers, some more obvious than others. Here is a breakdown of the inner-workings and interest areas the Galesburg Civic Art Center has to offer.

  • Volunteer from Home:

At this time, Pen Pals are needed in our area for our ARTReach program with area assisted living facilities. We'd love to drop a message, small artwork, etc, to our artists currently not able to see families and friends.

  • Exhibition Receptions:

When we can all be together again, our receptions are monthly and typically the Friday-night hotspot for great food, wine, music, and lively conversation. Volunteers are needed to help set up the day of the event and manage the evening, including but not limited to: setting up reception tables, prepping food, replenishing food/wine, staffing the reception area, and clean-up.

  • Educational Activities:

The Art Center has created a regular schedule of workshops for all ages and often gives tours to groups. Some of the programming includes Senior Studios in which we offer free monthly programs for seniors (62+) and residents of The Kensington, Heartland Health Care, and Seminary Estates. We are also looking for help with Kids Month as well as Something New Saturdays for Kids in which community members come to the Art Center to partake in a number of artistic projects and activities. Volunteers are needed in some cases to help set up, assist instructors, or instruct if you have a special talent to share! Docents are also needed to talk about art and pose questions to those participating in the art-viewing experience. This is a great volunteer opportunity to show-case your own artistic abilities while helping our community grow and learn as a whole!

  • Fundraising Events:

We have two major fundraisers each year: Great Bowls of Soup (February 20th) and Summer Soiree (on or about June 12th). The Art Center is seeking volunteers that like to have a good time while raising money to support exhibition and educational programming. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available!

  • Community Events:

Outreach programs are essential to our mission of promoting visual arts in our community and there are several events that we host/ partner with other organizations to provide! Community events include, but are not limited to the NAACP Picnic, Railroad Days, Hot Air Balloon Races, First Fridays, and Standish Arts & Crafts Market. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available.

  • Gift Shop and Administrative:

It takes a village to make a busy Art Center run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to staff the Gift Shop and in many cases, be the first point of contact for our guests. Our Gift Shop volunteers also perform a variety of administrative tasks that involve filing, Microsoft Office, copying, etc.
