Dear Applicant,
The beGirl.world Global Scholars Study Abroad Scholarships aim to address the underrepresentation of Black women in study abroad programs by providing financial support. Recognizing that financial barriers often hinder participation, these scholarships aim to alleviate such obstacles and empower women of color to pursue enriching educational experiences abroad. Applicants must be current enrollees in good standing at a 2 or 4-year college/university in the United States and hold US citizenship. Additionally, applicants must have been accepted into a forthcoming study abroad program.
The beGirl.world Global Scholars Study Abroad Scholarship has two specialized scholarships: the "All-Philly Scholarship" and the "All-Country Scholarship."
The "All-Philly Scholarship" is tailored for black women who reside and attend school in Philadelphia, PA. At the same time, the "All-Country Scholarship" is open to black women from any other city or state in the United States and can attend school in any state in the United States. Students from Philadelphia who attend schools outside of Philadelphia should apply to the "All-Country Scholarship".
Each scholarship offers $2000 to be used flexibly for travel-related expenses during your study abroad experience. These specialized scholarships aim to provide targeted support to black women from the United States, recognizing and addressing the unique challenges you may face in accessing study-abroad opportunities.
The scholarship application process is divided into four sections to ensure clarity and efficiency in gathering essential information. Firstly, the "Applicant Information" section serves as the foundation, capturing basic details about you. Following this, the "Essay Section" provides an opportunity for you to delve deeper into your motivations and aspirations through three separate essays, each requiring a minimum of 300 words. Here, you can articulate your thoughts on studying abroad and traveling, allowing us to gain deeper insights into your perspectives. The "Document Verification" section acts as a crucial step in confirming the accuracy of submitted documents, ensuring transparency and integrity throughout the process. Lastly, the "Certification & Authorization" section serves as a declaration of honesty and consent, affirming the veracity of the provided information and granting authorization for communication and social media usage. This structured approach enables us to streamline the application process while ensuring that each applicant's qualifications and intentions are thoughtfully considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and applicants will be disqualified from the selection process.
