The Sugarland Run Board of Directors has been asked to gauge the interest of the membership in prohibiting short term rentals.
Below is the language the Board has agreed to propose for a possible covenant amendment:
"No portion of any property or dwelling shall be used for transient or hotel functions, which, for the purposes of this Declaration shall be defined as a rental period less than one hundred eighty (180) days. Other than the foregoing restrictions, each Lot Owner shall have the full right to lease the property."
Should the results of this survey show a majoirty of owners support amending the documents to restrict short term rentals, a special meeting of the membership would be called to discuss and officially vote on this topic.
If the proposed motion were to pass at the special meeting called in the future, the HOA would need to hire an attorney to draft the legal document outlining the amendment and pay for all court costs related to filing the amended document with the State.
