    The Town of Bridgewater piloted the 1st food scraps program in the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) region. Recycling food scraps is a simple, easy way to reduce household trash. Bridgewater accepts organics (food scraps) at the town's Transfer Station during normal hours of operation. This service is FREE to Bridgewater residents.

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of Newtown is offering an organics (food scraps) recycling drop-off program with 5 convenient locations.

    You may drop off food scraps at the Newtown Transfer Station during normal operating hours. Or, anytime, 24/7 at the new food scraps smart bins located at:

    • Newtown Senior Center – 8 Primrose Street
    • Dodgingtown Fire House – 55 Dodgingtown Road
    • Sandy Hook Firehouse Sub-Station – 249 Berkshire Road
    • Hawleyville Fire Station – 34 Hawleyville Road

    The Newtown food scrap recycling program does not require registration to participate.

    A transfer station permit is required to drop off food scraps at the transfer station. The permit is free and can be obtained at the transfer station located at 4 Ethan Allen Road, Newtown.

  • Welcome to Redding's Food Scraps Recycling Program!

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of Redding is offering an organics (food scraps) recycling drop-off program with 2 convenient locations.
    You may drop off at the Redding Transfer Station during normal operating hours. Or, anytime, 24/7 at the new food scraps smart bin located at 10 Lonetown Road in the Town Center Post Office parking lot.

    For Redding Residents Only
    This program is exclusively for Redding residents. By providing your contact information, the Town of Redding and HRRA will:

  • Welcome to Ridgefield's Food Scraps Recycling Program!

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of Ridgefield is offering this organics (food scraps) recycling drop-off program to help residents reduce their household garbage. Ridgefield is doing its part to help the state address the current waste crisis by providing convenient, easy access to remove a resource from our trash - food scraps!

    Ridgefield provides two options for dropping off food scraps.

    You may bring your food scraps to the Recycling Center during operating hours using the large green food scraps collection bin. Or, you may access the food scraps smart bin located just outside the Recycling Center in front of the fueling station.

    idgefield makes compost with our solar powered aerated static pile composting system. An innovative project, the system was built to create a self-sustaining closed loop composting system for transforming residential food waste into an end-product for community, municipal and agricultural use. Ridgefield is demonstrating that municipalities can manage food waste locally, reduce the carbon footprint of offsite disposal and contribute to the waste diversion goals of the state.

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of New Fairfield is offering an organics (food scraps) composting drop-off program at the town's Drop Off Center.

    By providing your contact information, the town of New Fairfield and the HRRA will be able to contact you regarding the program. Your information will not be shared with any other party and will only be used for program purposes.

    A Transfer Station Permit is required to use the program. You can obtain a permit the Drop Off Center. You can download a form at https://www.newfairfield.org/municipal-departments/services/public-works/drop-off-center-info-and-online-permits

     

  • Welcome to Weston's Food Scraps Recycling Program!

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of Weston offers an organics (food scraps) composting drop-off program at the town's Transfer Station.

    By providing your contact information, the town of Weston and the HRRA will be able to contact you regarding the program. Your information will not be shared with any other party and will only be used for program purposes.

    The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) in collaboration with the Town of Wilton is offering an organics (food scraps) recycling drop-off program at the Wilton Transfer Station, located at 71 Mather Street.
